“just one problem...”
Reviewed January 17, 2009

I agree with most comments on this site. It was close to many restaurants, it was clean, non-smoking, and staff was friendly. However, when we arrived at the hotel at midnight after an event in town, I was disappointed in the beds. They looked to be comfortable, but the sheets were scratchy and the mattress was horrible! Not at all what I expected. I got maybe 2 hours of sleep. Not a great get-away from the kids when you can't rest! That was the only problem, however, a major one!

  • Liked — It was clean
  • Disliked — Beds were very uncomfortable. I did not sleep.

I was very concerned about finding a hotel that would be clean. This hotel was very clean, decorated nicely and above all, SMOKE FREE. The staff was courteous and helpful. The continental breakfast is more than adequate to get you going.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stopped at this hotel during a quick trip to the Memphis area. The hotel was close to the interstate, shopping & many restaurants. Checkin was a breeze and all the staff we encountered were extremely nice. The beds were wonderful. My only complaint was the internet service was extremely slow.

We stayed here as a stop over on our way to Gulf Shores, Alabama. We've stayed here before, and the hotel has since been remodeled. The rooms are clean and roomy and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was a typical Fairfield breakfast -- bagels, donuts, coffee, cereal, etc. The staff was friendly and the location was great for our needs.

This is a typical Fairfield Inn. It is convenient to the interstate, however, it is very difficult to find due to it being located behind some businesses.

We are long-time Fairfield fans but it is becoming apparent to us that Fairfield rests on their past laurels. The chain isn't improving
as the years go on. They don't pay attention to the little things.

Our stay was good...not great...just good. We arrived very late (2 AM) and our room was held as we called ahead. Our room was "suite-like" with a divider and an extra television in a living area which was great for our kids. Although non-smoking, people smoked on the third floor and we had to fight that for two nights. The bathroom was old...the rest of the room was renovated but they didn't get to the bathroom. There was something dark on the wall next to the toilet.

The breakfast was a joke. The hotel was full and the lady, though nice, never did keep items replentished. I never had more than cereal and they must run out of fruit very quickly.

Overall the property was well maintained but there were enough flaws that you just didn't feel satisfied. HBO didn't work in our room either.

Great location...right off of I-55.

We stayed one night at this property on our trip home from Nashville because we did some touristy stuff in Memphis. I chose the Fairfield based upon reviews on Trip Advisor but later realized the reviews were all quite dated.

We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by a none-too-friendly desk clerk. I had requested adjoining rooms, but apparently they were unable to accomodate my request so we got two rooms down the hall from each other. When I asked the clerk about this, she just kind of shrugged her shoulders and really didn't give me an answer.

Both of our rooms smelled very strongly like deodorizer. The property is nonsmoking now, but it would appear that it was a smoking hotel at some point. There was a musty cigarette smell under the strong scent. Although it was very hot and humid outside, we had to open the windows in the rooms to let them air out a bit.

The beds did have clean linens, but the lounge chair and desk chair had not seen any cleaning in quite some time. The desk chair had dried food or something all over the arm, and the lounge chair appeared to have some old chocolate and various other items left on it!

Traveling with a party of four women, we really wanted somewhere safe and secure. The parking area was right outside the door, which I liked, and we didn't leave the hotel after dark. Overall, I felt that the property was safe and secure inside.

On another positive note, the hotel is in a very convenient location. There are many restaurants located nearby, and we also found a nice little shopping center after eating at Outback.

Overall, I think that there are better choices for hotels in this area. The stay wasn't the worst I have experienced, but I think that I would opt for the Hampton Inn next door if in the area again.
