I'm not sure how to describe this restaurant. It had couples, families and groups. The food was good and the service was excellent. Although the restaurant lacked atmosphere, it certainly had character. The alcohol was chosen from a wine rack or fridge and labeled with prices which was good, although not cheap.
I probably wouldn't return.

“Overpriced & not that tasty”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

Three of us ate here for a birthday celebration & found the constant interruptions from wait staff an inconvenience (why couldn't we just order & be left alone?). The entree tortellini was very bland as was the main course gnocchi. The desert tasting plate was great but for $23 you would hope it was! In terms of flavoursome food I would not recommend this overpriced restaurant.

“Almost Perfect”
Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

Tried this restaurant based on the reviews written here and it did for the most part live up to the high praise.
Starters were very good, I ordered the fig special and it was very tasty, my husband had the ragout with lobster and shrimp. Warm hearty bread was delivered to the table, and our waiter Tony was very nice to get olive oil when I asked. Wine selection is outstanding, you pick out your own bottle, like at a bottle shop, and give it to the bartender. All the bottles had prices on them, so no surprises. Downside was my duck as main course. It was so dried out I could not even cut it. Tony could see I was struggling and came over and apologized and offered to replace it with another dish, but I was happy to eat the side salad. They took the price off the bill. My husband enjoyed his beef main. I would go back, but will try the barramundi .

“5 Plus Star Experience”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

We have been to this fine dining restaurant on a few occasions on our trips back to Adelaide, and on each occasion the experience has been consistently outstanding. The menu is quite extensive as is the wine list (with the wine bottles & their prices being on display for guests to view), and would be more than adequate to meet everyone's taste requirements . The menu caters for dietary conditions, which my wife was extremely happy with given her "gluten free" requirements. The food was absolutely stunning as was the presentation. I had the seafood ragout which is to "die for", as was the rack of lamb. My wife had the "potato soup" (which seems to be a restaurant speciality) and the barramundi. The service was very professional, attentative & personable without being over the top & in your face. The restaurant decor is in keeping with the "fine dining" menu & the service, and the heritage listed building. Obviously, the restaurant is very highly rated as shown by the number of top awards (as displayed on a wall near the entrance) which it has consistently won over a number of years. A very pleasant & memorable experience, and certainly worth the trip. Highly recommended.
