Our family enjoyed our dining at the Pearl, MS O'Charley's on March 31. This was the 4th or 5th time that we have dined at this restaurant since it's opening. We have had both good and bad experiences in the past, however I would like to note that our dining at O'Charley's on this date was great. The food was fresh and the service was quick and prompt.

Approximately 2 weeks ago, a friend and I visited this restuarant. The greeting from the "greeter" was unfriendly and as if she was being bothered to even acknowledge we had walked into the restaurant and to her podium. There was a waiting list, so we asked to sit at the bar. There were only about 2 tables and only one booth taken at the bar although the actual bar stools were full. We were told if we wanted to sit at a high top or booth in the bar that it was the same waiting list as the regular restaurant.

We opted to be put on the waiting list for the restaurant. While we waited our near 30 minutes for a table we noticed that three other parties (one family of 3 and 2 couple sets) walked into the restaurant, spoke to the "greeter" then walked right past her and seated themselves in the bar area at the high tops and booth that we were told was waiting listed.The response was that no, we could not and they must have "slipped by her" when we asked if we could go on to one of those other empty tables or booths like they had done.

When we were seated, no one ever came to our table! After 20 minutes of trying to flag someone down to ask who was our waitress, we could get no one. Even someone in a different shirt/tie/pant combo (possibly a manager) than the seeming wait staff could not be stopped, although each person passed by our booth approximately 2 times each. Our booth was along the wall of the kitchen doors in the back. While I can understand possibly not being able to get someone who had a tray of food to stop to speak to us, the time they walked by with nothing and totally ignored the spoken words and waved hand is unexcusable.

The couple in the booth behind us was overheard fussing about not being able to get their check and had been waiting for a long time after their meal. A dining room of many empty tables and booths in combination with watching people who had been placed on the waiting list after we were being seated in a different area, greeted, served drinks, etc. while we couldnot even flag any staff member down is unexplainable. After seriously 20 minutes (a total of just over 50 minutes from entry to departure), we got up and walked towards the front to leave. It was an obvious issue with our server assigned to the area. 20 minutes and no greeting, no water, no acknowledgement by any staff member in the dining room is poor business and unacceptable.

Once we arrived at the front upon departure, the same "greeter" said "oh, yall are leaving". We said yes and explained what had happened. She had no response! Just looked at us and then finally said "ok". A different type of employee would have not let us leave that restaurant without trying to see how she could keep us there to encur a bill. A good employee would have asked us to wait while she investigated, found a manager, found her supervisor to speak with us or made some effort at all. The fact that this employee made no effort to resolve the issue made it very clear the management/training, etc is lacking in a large way.

We are not "loud" people...we made no fuss, drew no scene, etc. but did fully explain our issue. It was like she viewed it as no big deal and that is where the problems lies. To an employee, if they are trained well, an unhappy customer is something that does not happen. Meaning the customer may be unhappy for a moment, but you take ownership of your job and view it as personal, and make efforts to make the customer happy.

Meanwhile, we have told all our friends and family about our experience and found that when you do get food that it is good, but the service in their opinions is poor. This manager needs to take hard look at how he/she is managing dining room employees and make some big changes.

This is the place for the Sunday brunch..Order as you please..There is a virity of things to choose from. But if you choose stop by and have a great little meal before you go to the Mississippi Braves game.

Really, we just went in for a couple of beers with appetizers, but bartender was excellent and good food

Great dinner, steak cooked perfectly, all sides were delicious. the waitress was very nice to us. fresh bread, great salad, just a great overall experience. I would definitely eat here again if I am in the area.
