“A real pleasure!”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Beautifully displayed. The shop obviously encouraged browsing by supplying chairs and a coffee area. Lots of signed copies and first editions. Knowledgeable staff and books clearly laid out into different categories. Would recommend a visit as this type of shop is rare.

“Best Indie Bookstore in the US!”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Square Books is legendary, and it lived up to its reputation. They offer an expansive selection of signed, first edition books because so many hot authors go there to read/sign/support the bookstore. Truly a gem!

“Great Find”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

The first tendency is to refer to Square Books as a great local find. But really it's much more. This is one of the greatest bookstores in the country. Great selection of signed first editions, local flavors and national publications.

“Small, but good”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

It is located on the Square which (on a Saturday) is worth staying and walking around shopping for about 2-2 1/2 hours. I had to visit this book store because of its reknown. It has, as you would expect, a good selection of southern authors and Mississippi history. It is a little light on everything else. The store also has a pretty nice collection of autographed books. I picked up an autographed Grisham book for the cost of the book itself. The other thing that struck me about the place was how friendly and funny the staff was. It was clear that everyone enjoyed working there. A note for those going to Oxford Square for the first time: the incoming traffic on a Saturday may seem kind of heavy for this small area, but there is plenty of free parking on the square and some of the side streets of the square.

“Great MS selection.”
Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

While I am partial to lemuria in Jackson, this old timey bookstore has an exceptional selection of MS authors, southern books, and, of course, Faulkner.
