“Good Food!”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

We finally got a chance to eat at a Cork'y BBQ while in Memphis and decided to stop at this location while driving by on our way to Tupelo. We were greeted by a smiling face, and waited on right away. We ordered the sausage and cheese plate, which was excellent... The best sausage we've ever had smothered in BBQ sauce. We also ordered the dry ribs for two, I have to admit that they weren't the best, but were still very good. The twice baked potato salad was delicious as was the banana pudding I got to-go. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated with cool local folk art.

“Not as good as I expected!”
Reviewed August 6, 2014 via mobile

I've eaten Corky's BBQ in Memphis and thought I'd pull in while traveling. The service was slow and the food wasn't as good as expected, may be because it's new!

We have always wanted to try Memphis-style BBQ and as we were passing through Memphis we tracked down this highly regarded purveyor of the art.

I ordered the ribs/pulled pork combo. The fries were OK; supposed to be seasoned but couldn't detect too much additional flavor. The BBQ beans were certainly enjoyable but nothing exceptional. Couldn't find any scraps of pork or brisket in them which was a disappointment. The rolls were a surprise. Had never been served dinner rolls at a BBQ joint before but they were very tasty.

The pork was rather dry and not particularly tender. I am not referring to added sauce but the natural juices from fat and brines. Could have been smoked longer and achieved a higher internal temp to finish with a better "chew". The ribs (dry rub) were not particularly tender and were fatty and "sloppy". Could have benefitted from being smoked at a higher temp to render out the excess fat.

Service was excellent as we experienced throughout our journey through the South.

Bottom line; while everything was certainly edible we did not experience the memorable Q feast that we expected. "OK" is not what we want when eating America's indigenous favorite cuisine.
