“Surprise”

A trip to Ocean Springs is not complete without a trip to the Shearwater Showroom. There is a display of beautiful pieces of old Shearwater pottery and there is a showroom full of new pieces to purchase. Very reasonable prices works of art and pottery. I realized i had a old piece of Shearwater pottery after visiting the showroom. What a surprise!

“Off the beaten path - and worth it!”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Wonderful pottery, ceramics, silk-screened prints from the Anderson family. Beautiful, beautiful work, and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. You may need to ask directions to the family compound, but it's worth the effort!

“Beautiful and Interesting Showroom”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

A wonderful tie-in to the wonderful Walter Anderson Museum is to take a short drive to the Shearwater Pottery showroom, still run by members of the Anderson family. The showroom includes a museum of Shearwater pottery and many items and original works of art for sale at very reasonable prices. The woman working in the showroom was very friendly and informative and we enjoyed this place a lot. My husband bought a "whiskey" cup which he has been using every day. We went on a Sunday and plan to make a return trip during the week so we can go to the workroom to watch the potters in action.

“Widgets and More”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

We had heard that the Shearwater Pottery had been wiped out by Katrina. Its demise was greatly overstated. There had been extensive damage and the loss of a lot of historical pieces but the facility has been attractively restored and is fully operational. The "widgets" for which Shearwater is famous are dancing from the shelves. Additionally, their artists art creating new forms that are in keeping with the tradition. The staff was quite friendly and we just had to add a few pieces to our collection.

“Beautiful Handmade Pottery”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

Shearwater Pottery is handmade by the family of renowned artist, Walter Anderson. The family runs the pottery gift shop, and are very friendly and helpful about their products. Not only is the work unique and beautiful, it is very functional. We enjoy our collection on a daily basis. The pottery tumblers are my favorite glass to drink out of. This will really enrich your trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
