There was a baseball championship or something going on, that explains the gouging ($110.00+)! Nasty carpet, stained & smelled, both table chairs burned & cigarette ash smeared everywhere! After putting towels down to try to eat our dinner after a long tiring drive, a bug with about 30-40 legs crawled across the floor. My husband went to the front desk to see if they had bug killer spray..we were tired and all hotels in the area were booked up, so leaving wasn't an option. All of the furniture was cheap, with several layers of polish to cover up (attempt) flaws! Later that night, more of those bugs were crawling on the bed, some biting or stinging my husband! I wouldn't even walk barefoot! No apologies from hotel management or anything! They said that exterminators sprayed "yesterday,"& that must have driven the bugs out from under the bed! It was like being in a cave, dark carpet, dark walls; dark furniture, etc. Bright flourescent lights to read by. By far worst experience at a hotel anywhere!

A comfortable stay in a typical Microtel setup. I had a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker; I used none of them. There was a 32” RCA HDTV, it worked well, but the remote had no useable timer setting. The bathroom had soap, shampoo, and a built in hair dryer, small but useable. The shower worked just fine and the tub drained properly. There were enough towels and washcloths. The room was not cleaned very well…there were a lot of crumbs and miscellaneous particles on the carpet…I was in a “pet friendly“ room, so the room initially had a strong deodorizer smell. The hotel is located away from the interstate, so you don’t hear highway noise, but the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbor’s conversations (I did). The furniture was functional, but was showing a lot of wear & tear. The desk chair was absolutely filthy and terribly stained…I put a towel on the chair prior to sitting. The heating/AC unit worked just fine and wasn’t noisy. There was the typical motel breakfast fare the next morning: waffles, oatmeal, cereal, biscuits, gravy, orange juice (not watered down), bagels, bread, boiled eggs, milk, and coffee. There was enough food, but it was not plentiful, if you took a food item, it might have been the last one out. The desk personnel were professional and prompt. The motel is pet-friendly with certain rooms (on the 1st floor) set aside for travelers with pets…I was charged a $15 non-refundable fee (probably for the 2 lbs. of deodorizer they put on the carpet). There is a major construction project in the Meridian area, so most reasonably priced hotels are quickly filled with workers and this one is no exception…reservations are highly recommended if you plan to try and stay here.

I often stay at Microtel because of the cost and usually consistent quality. This hotel was definitely an aberration to that formula. The hotel smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was supposed to be no smoking. Our restroom reeked of cigarette smoke. The room was ok, not particularly clean but not filthy. When I talked to the front desk the next morning about my displeasure with the smell, they said this sort of thing happened often with people smoking or sneaking in pets to avoid paying the $20 fee. In the words of the Microtel empolyee, "these are the types of problems we have with our clientele." Well if that is the clientele they serve and cannot find a solution to make people follow the rules, I will not be back even if it is an economy rate. Also contributing to this rating, the breakfast was sub par from what I have had at other Microtels.
