To be honest, after a late lunch, we weren't really that hungry but had heard a lot about this place from locals. As mentioned in almost every review on this page, the neighborhood has gotten scary over the years (as has much of Jackson). We did see blue lights racing by a few times during our meal. However, this family place has a comfortable ambiance. Nothing fancy. Service is prompt and friendly. Portions are huge. If you aren't terribly hungry, I would recommend splitting an entree. We ordered the lump crabmeat but wound up with the fish/crabmeat/shrimp combo for the same price (this happens a lot I gather). The Greek salad with comeback sauce (the ubiquitous sauce of Jackson) was good. The fish was white and flaky with lots of crabmeat on it. It had a good texture and was obviously fresh but it tasted a little "fishier" than I like. The Greek veggies side was way overcooked. The baklava dessert was different than any other baklava I've ever had and actually quite good. The owner is a character and very friendly. Yes, he does go around saying "God Bless America!" Overall, it was a fun place for a casual dinner with friends. The ambiance is fun and local, the food OK, Overall, it falls somewhere between Average and Very Good. I would give it three and a half dots if I could.
