We are a Caucasian couple in our mid fifties on an extended visit to the Jackson area.
We drove to this historic district to take in what we could of it.
We left our vehicle and strolled around on a Sunday afternoon with little to no concern about our safety though we did maintain a keen awareness at all times.
It is hard to tell what is happening on Farish street on a walk through. Collapsed and severely damaged buildings comprise probably 1/3 of the buildings in total from our estimate. There are interesting signs and things to see and it does look as if there are or were plans to revitalize this area. But it appears completely devoid of attractions to visit for entertainment at this time. We could imagine a nice music and dining centered business area here but who knows when this will manifest?
Absolutely do not visit at night is my suggestion. There are some geocaches around for those who like that activity as we do.
Best wishes to this place!
