“We Got What We Paid For”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

We are a Caucasian couple in our mid fifties on an extended visit to the Jackson area.
We drove to this historic district to take in what we could of it.
We left our vehicle and strolled around on a Sunday afternoon with little to no concern about our safety though we did maintain a keen awareness at all times.
It is hard to tell what is happening on Farish street on a walk through. Collapsed and severely damaged buildings comprise probably 1/3 of the buildings in total from our estimate. There are interesting signs and things to see and it does look as if there are or were plans to revitalize this area. But it appears completely devoid of attractions to visit for entertainment at this time. We could imagine a nice music and dining centered business area here but who knows when this will manifest?
Absolutely do not visit at night is my suggestion. There are some geocaches around for those who like that activity as we do.
Best wishes to this place!

“An Experience in Waiting”
Reviewed December 31, 2013

Farish Street has been "under construction" for a long time. This legendary street, home to R&B and blues music greats has so much potential. Sadly, the area is still struggling. Drive through during the day for a look at the work in progress and to see if there may be something worth stopping for. Best to avoid this area at night.

I went to Jackson on a Mission Trip. We Will Go Ministries is working very hard on restoring Jackson.. At no time when I was in Jackson was I in fear, and yes I am a white woman whom slept in the Farish District. Was there issues; with drug addicts, homeless, prostitutes Yes, there is. We as Children of God need to work together to help these people out, we need to come together and bring life to this area, so they will not be suffering and have to turn to live this way. Please pray for the people of Jackson, and if you can help them. There is some very nice people in the Farish District of Jackson, please do not give up on them.

There is nothing there. Has potential, but right now - don't waste your time. The street is looking better all the time, but that is all it is a street - no businesses or attractions.

I attend law school in this district. The area is full of drug addicts, prostitutes and muggers. I pack a pistol every day to school because the area is so horrible.
