Babalu is the Best! Loved the venue - Remodeled 1940's Duling school house, the outdoor patio w beautiful flowers and greenery. Inside Babalu's, eclectic furnishings, I Love Lucy projected on wall for viewing, great rotating ceiling fans that provided enough air circulation without blowing right on you or your food. Now the service - our waiter, Pete, absolutely wonderful, a true southern delight!! Very attentive without being annoying. He educated us on Babalu's - the school house, the sister restaurants, tapas and taco menu using as many local ingredients as possible. Ask for Pete as your server, your dining experience will be enhanced! The libations - we personally love Hendricks gin, so when we saw it paired w freshly squeezed lemonade w cucumber mint wheel, we were not disappointed! We save the last of our review for the best - the food!! Table side guacamole w chips and also sliced vegetables - great start! Then the "to die for" shrimp and grits, a must have! Followed by three tacos on blue corn tortillas - one pork, beef and chicken. Wonderful flavors for all three but the favorite is the pork!! Overall dining experience - EXCELLENT! Tell Pete that Maryanne and Don from Texas sent you!!
