We had reservations for 5:30 before the Elton John concert and our entire party did not arrive until 6:00. We told the waiter we were going to the concert and needed to be out by 7:30. He said that was fine so was everybody else that night. They had 200 reservations that night that were going to the concert. We did not get our entrees until 7:20. We had to eat our food so fast, I am surprised we did not all get indigestion. The Cesar salad was ok. The veal was excellent. I would go back but you don't need to be in a hurry. We were in the building next door and I would not want to be in that building again. You need to be in the main building.

Don't be misled by the name--it's a former drive-in but now a converted sit-down, knock-your-socks-off restaurant. It's located in the artsy Fondren District of Jackson and whether you come for lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. The entree prices for dinner are on the high side for the area but worth it. My favorites include Redfish Anna with Lump Crabmeat and the Fried Green Tomato BLT. The bread pudding is great also.

The menu is pretty broad, and anyone should be able to eat here, but hands down, the tamales are the most amazing I have had in Mississippi. The place is pretty crowded around lunchtime. On pretty days this is not an issue because you can sit on the patio. The restaurant has a really casual feel, but you still get prompt, professional service from the friendly staff. Oh, and leave your diet at home, because if you don't eat dessert here, you are really missing out!

Pricey, but huge portions involved here. Had the soft shell crab entree. Folks, 2 crabs the size of your head is just too much! Get the appie and save some dough. We ate in the upstairs of the building next door to the main restaurant. Insist on the main building if you go here. More atmosphere and more of the old drive-in feel. This is one of Jackson's great restaurants.
