My son was about 16 months old a few months back when we visited this museum. It was great. Plenty of space for him to run and play but I could keep an eye on him pretty easily. There were plenty of attractions with fish and snakes to hold his attention even at such a young age. The price was very reasonable and there was plenty of wooded area out back for him to run. It is next door to the Children's Museum, so convenient location. There is a playground outfront, but we did not utilize it.

I've accompanied my kids on field trips to this museum. It's great for them to learn about different animals and habitats, but they also can dress up like firemen/women, learn about fire safety and play in the kitchen without the help of modern convienences. There is also a maze outside for the kids and lots of room to run to see plants and other parts of the property. Often, we will go to the picnic area and the big playground after our visit.

The museum has many aquariums representing the different creatures living in the different types of water (river, lake, streams, etc.) Many were alive, including alligators! Jackson is a small city, and this is a world-class, small museum.

Pros: There were many tanks with a large vairety of fish and turtles. The museum was interesting.

Cons: The hiking trails outside of the Museum were not well labeled and there was poison ivy trailing up the board walk. The fossil section of the museum was tiny and not very informative.
