“Beautiful building”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

If you are interest in history then it is a must if you are visiting Jackson, Mississippi. We strolled around the grounds and took pictures of the building on a beautiful spring day. It was Sunday so the building was closed. But when we asked where the closest restroom was, a very nice police officer let us into the building to use the facilities. It was southern hospitality at its best. The building looked beautiful inside. We chatted with the officer for a little bit and he gave us some history. What a gentleman and it gave us a great appreciation for the people of Mississippi.

“Very beautiful capitol building”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Admission is free, but you do have to go through metal detectors and security. They offer tours, but i was running short on time so i had to skip this. (Unfortunate because the tour guide was a doll). The capitol building is beautiful - great rotunda and dome. Several monuments outside on the capitol grounds. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Jackson area.

“A Real Beauty”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

My wife and I visit state capitols, and Jackson was our 45th. This is an extremely beautiful building and we both rank it in the top three of the prettiest capitol buildings that we have visited. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and spent a considerable amout of time explaining the unique features of the building. The building is constructed from materials all over the country and features several different styles of columns, including both Greek and Roman. We highly recommend touring the building when you are in Jackson.

“A Mississippi Welcome to Remember”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Visiting this area for the first time we drove right up to the Capital. A guard came out of a shelter and I thought he was going to tell us to leave. We told him we were visiting from Pennsylvania and would like to see the capital building. He directed us to a parking place on the grounds and directed us to a doorway. Once inside we were greeted by two very nice ladies. One offered us a personal tour of the building. It was really worthwhile to learn the history and we also were allowed in the Senate and House chambers which were in session. An altogether remarkable experience that really showed the welcoming attitude of the folks in Mississippi.
