“When in North Mississippi, stay with friends of Elvis”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Tom and Ellen were true delights. Their breakfast is worth the stay alone. They are very proud of their area and I learned of some new places to visit while in the area that I was not aware of.

The B&B is wonderful. It is clean, well kept, and a delight to explore. They will even give you a guided tour of the house which includes a year book of Tom's with Elvis's year book comment to him.

If you have never stayed at a B&B, you should stay here... they will make you wonder why you ever stayed in a hotel.

We chose Michael's room, there were no other guests and we thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. The place is spotless, and well furnished with lots of history everywhere you look. There's personal Elvis information available but so many other things to see that I barely noticed it. I'd bet Elvis fans can find things there they won't see elsewhere.
We were served a delicious cake snack in the common area which was well supplied with other snacks and a good selection of coffees and such whenever you want it. My only complaint might be the water, use bottled water for the coffee maker, my first cup tasted like heavily treated water to me. Then again I'm picky about my coffee and don't like local water anywhere.
Next trip I'm going to make a point to have more time to explore the place and chat with Tom, we left before breakfast to get home before dark and regretted it. Siri directed us to the place and back to the highway easily through some country roads we had no trouble navigating and enjoyed the scenery.
I will definitely go again, may even make a special trip of it just to catch up on what I missed by being in a hurry. I feel like I met a true southern gentleman and wasted an opportunity to get to know him better. Tom has a great sense of humor and made us feel at home and in good company instantly.

Room Tip: Next time I will reserve Suzanne's room, it has a small private balcony and is arranged a bit ha...

This was the second stop on a few week long road trip. The owners were very inviting and kind. We were unable to arrive until late in the evening but when we did arrive Tom showed us to our room. We were the only ones the there other than the owners being that we stayed in the off season. The room was nice we and it had a balcony that over looked the back and side yard. The home itself was beautiful and there were many lovely antiques. Breakfast was amazing, Ellen made the best quiche I've ever had. Very formal style breakfast with informal history telling about the region and the home. We got the grand tour of the house which was neat. If your an Elvis fan, definitely stay here, Tom went to school with the King and had some cool memorabilia. Next door was a neat little antique shop to tour before we headed west on our trip. I would go back to the Grove but wasn't impressed with Memphis itself compared to other cities we've been too. I guess I just expected a little more from the city but then again, maybe we didn't know where to look...

We stayed two nights at this lovely B&B on our recent visit to Memphis and Graceland. Magnolia Groves B&B is about 20-30 minutes from Graceland and so worth the ride. The owners, Tom and Ellen were very kind and gracious, offered a wealth of knowledge about local history and the surrounding area. Their home is beautiful, warm, and comforting and their pride in it shows in every detail. The four course breakfasts were exceptional, there was no need for lunch! We stayed in "Jenny's" room and it was decorated beautifully. There is a large sitting area upstairs next to the bedrooms with a microwave, keurig, refrigerator, snacks, and a special baked treat at night. Awesome reading materials to relax with. It was a wonderful weekend and I will definitely stay there again when visiting the Memphis area.

We stayed with our family at Magnolia Grove B&B this year in November, this is the 3rd time we have visited with the hosts Tom & Ellen Mulligan and once again came away feeling as if we had stayed with close friends. The home is amazing and Tom is full of local history, the breakfast is absoloutly wonderful, as well as the snacks left upstairs, and the refridgerator well stocked, everything was just as we had remembered from past visits. We will return again, the rooms and bathrooms are beautiful, and we came away again totally relaxed. Thank you for making our stay so easy and making us feel so welcome.

Just got back home to Chicago after our stay at Magnolia Grove B&B, we had such a relaxing and wonderful time. It is a beautiful home and has such homey feeling. It is about 20 min. from Memphis and the Inn keeper Tom was very knowledgeable about the area and its history, The room was immaculate and the food was excellent. We had to leave early in the morning so we skipped the big breakfast and were delighted to find they had left a continental breakfast with take along bags for us in the morning.
We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our Beale street/Graceland trip and one of the nicest parts was having a relaxing retreat to come back to at the end of the day!! It was our first B&B experience and will not be our last.
Thanks Tom and Ellen for a great trip!

We stayed in Suzanne's room, which was very charming with a fireplace and full bath. We had access to a large sitting area on the second floor, which had a couch, table and chairs, a refrigerator, two microwaves, coffee and snacks. There were all kinds of interesting books to read as well as art work and photos of the home's original owners. The inn is within walking distance of downtown, which has plenty of restaurants and shops. On the night of our arrival, the innkeepers made and provided red velvet cake as a dessert treat--delicious. The next morning, we had a three-course breakfast--also delicious. The innkeepers take pride in the home and its restoration, and they enjoyed sharing its history with us. We wish we would've had more time to spend there.
