We had driven all day in our motor home while travelling south on I59. We set our goal to stop just before Laurel Ms. But all the campgrounds were full. We decided to try Laurel and stay in a hotel. We have a 7 lb dog but no hotel in Laurel would take us, the walmart has a height restrictor so we couldn't get in there. We got back on 59 and drove to Hattiesburg. We stopped in la Quinta and met the nicest desk clerk we have ever met. His name is Arthur, and I have asked the manager to give him a raise. His customer service was a 10! If you ever need someone to help you when you are tired, try La Quinta in Hattiesburg and ask for Arthur.

Room Tip: Talk to Arthur.

We stayed here yesterday night and it was horrible. I felt like I was in a asylum. The halls went on forever and it smelled like urine. We stayed in the pet rooms and when we got in there it smelled like mold. There was holes in the carpet and the bathroom door didn't shut. It was getting cold and the heater was broken. Huge hole in it. The shower didn't work right. And the doors to get out of the building didn't want to open. The good side is they had lots of parking for our u-haul.

The location was convenient. The Staff was wonderful. The breakfast was adequate. There are sliding glass doors in the rooms in addition to the door to the hall, very convenient for getting the dogs in and out to potty. There was dog poop everywhere on the premises though. The room was 'dirty' and old. The bed was HARD!! I did not sleep much at all because I was miserable. We always stay at La Quinta Hotels when we travel with our dogs because they are pet friendly, but I find that they are hit and miss. This one was a MISS.

Older property, fairly well kept up but still some signs of age. for example, my room door did not shut well.
rooms were quite large
sliding glass doors - a relic from the past, glad i was on the second floor.
breakfast was very nice - lots of seating, good choices of hot foods, and restocked and cleaned constantly.
nice open plan found in older hotels with lots of greenspace outside - great for kids/dogs etc..

It's not 5 star, but neither was the price

The interior hallways are very tired and run-down looking. The room had a somewhat unpleasant smell but did appear to be clean. Could use some interior updating. But I appreciate the fact that it is pet friendly and there is a large green space for the dogs to get some exercise and do their business. The air conditioner in the room kept cutting in and out all night which isn't conducive to sleeping but it did keep the room cool. The hair dryer was missing. The room price reflects the quality of the business.
