“New Orleans Style”

For north of "the lake", this is as good as I've had. Sloppy N'Awlins style roast beef po' boy with gravy. Mmmmm.

“Bargain price for bonus-size lunch”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

We found Peter's Po-Boys by accident while waiting for an emergency car repair. It may look like a shack, but its been in business 19 years, providing an unusual but successful marriage of Chinese flavorings with southern specialties. My barbecue beef po-boy was flavored with Hong Kong-style barbecue sauce AND cole slaw; my wife's shrimp po-boy was filled with BIG shrimp. They serve fried rice and eggrolls and local fried oysters and soft-shell crabs; they also serve a poor boy of Louisiana hot sausage for $6.89 and a fried chicken poor boy for under $7.00. These are BIG sandwiches and very well-stuffed. You can get an extra-large that will serve four people easily for under $20. The service is reasonably fast, but every sandwich is made to order; its well worth the few minutes it takes to get off the Interstate and avoid the usual fast food choices for a better-tasting bargain.

“An odd but successful combination of Chinese and Louisiana food”
Reviewed June 17, 2011

You can stop by Peter's Po-Boys to dine on a variety of po-boys, including shrimp, catfish, oyster, and roast beef. In addition, you can order from a selection of Chinese dishes, including shrimp, pork, or combination fried rice and egg rolls. We have tried the shrimp and oyster po-boys and thought they were the best in Hattiesburg. We also tried the combination fried rice and found it very enjoyable. You can dine inside (limited space), go inside to order and take home, or if you're familiar with the menu, use the drive-through window. Highly recommended casual restaurant.
