It’s real close to the university. Clean and elegant. Very upscale. Quiet. Staff is terrific. Worth every penny. A couple restaurants are in that area. It’s in a new area call Mid Town. It also has a restaurant inside of the hotel.

This hotel is excellent. The check in process was quick and the staff were very friendly. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The location is terrific as it has a large assortment of food places within walking distance and you can walk to USM campus. Absolutely no complaints and will use this hotel anytime in the Hattiesburg area.

Room tip: Hotel is pet friendly. 2nd floor room mid hallway was very quite.

We were traveling through looking for a place to stay and what a great choice! The staff was very polite and friendly! The location is perfect with plenty of eating options close by, the exterior and interior were very nice, well lit with plenty parking options. We were pulling a gooseneck trailer and were able to navigate around and find a parking spot! Both rooms were well equipped, roomy, clean and the mattress were very comfortable! Overall, I would recommend and if I were ever in Hattiesburg, I would go nowhere else!

Like most Hotel Indigo properties the Hattiesburg location is decorated around a central theme inspired by the history of the area—in this case railroads and lumber/logging. The lobby flows into a lounge area featuring wood paneling topped by a barrel ceiling studded with Edison lights. Brass luggage rails and leather straps complete the homage to Hattiesburg’s railroad past. The bar and restaurant are both very nice, with affable staff who make dining here enjoyable. So, stopping in for a drink in the lounge or a bite in the restaurant, you would think the hotel is a decent mid-range business hotel. However, looks can be deceiving.

On a recent visit to Southern Miss, colleagues and I stayed at the newly (and poorly) constructed Hotel Indigo. Suite 124 (where I called home for 3-days) was a cavernous space with 20’ foot ceilings throughout. The living space included a dining area, wet bar, coffee maker and fridge, but no microwave. The living space had a connecting door to an adjoining room/suite. Doors leading into the bedroom and bathroom featured glass inserts like those found in schoolhouses of the past. This became important at night, when light (and noise) from the hallway and the connecting room spilled in around the door frames and closing the bedroom and bathroom doors did nothing to minimize the situation.

Small lights suspended from the 20’ ceilings left the space dark and gloomy after the sun went down. The black interior of the miniscule bedroom closet, combined with the overall poor lighting, made it difficult to distinguish clothing in the early morning hours before the sun came up.

Add to this, the fact the ceiling in the bathroom leaked anytime the person in the room above used the shower and you have to surmise construction was quick and less than quality. When I reported the situation with the leaking ceiling the first morning I was there, I was told “oh, that just happens when the hotel is full”-really?!? The water was coming out of a can-light in the ceiling at a steady drip—this is “normal”? The situation was never rectified during the 3-days I stayed here, so I learned to place a dry towel on the floor beneath the light every evening before I went to bed
