Description: The after Katrina renovation of the Gulfport Historical District is an architectural gem. This restaurant is located in one of its beautiful old buildings, a prior bank, and the inside is the typical modern conversion: exposed bricks, high ceilings, large windows, smart decor and stylist tableware. The atmosphere is relaxed, spiffy, casual. The menu is extensive (beef/seafood) and interesting. As newcomers, we ordered the Cajun Pasta Supreme w/salad. Good food, great value, but what makes this place outstanding is the dedicated attention to detail - delicious hot bread, piping hot steak fries right from the fryer, a small salad with impeccable presentation with tomato relish and smoked Gouda to boot... Grand. And the service - a courteous, professional young waiter who anticipated our desires (good staff has this ability) and fulfilled them effective and expeditiously. Truly endearing. Places like this make our escapades from New Orleans to the Gulf beaches a true joy. Of course, we'll return

“Classy good dining”

The Lookout Steakhouse is a bit of a classy restaurant although they served us in our Jeans and Sweatshirts and were very gracious. We were early but we were seated right away. The interior of the restaurant is lovely with white tablecloths and cloth napkins, (which we enjoy). The service was very good, not too fussy, but did not ignore either. We had the stuffed Portobellos for our appetizer and they were very good. We had steak and shrimp for our meal and they were wonderful. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the shrimp was grilled and delicious. A little more pricey and elegant than our usual dining choices but very much worth the visit.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014 via mobile

We flew into Gulf Port International and asked the young lady at Million Air for the best steak house. She suggested Lookout and boy we weren't disappointed !!!

Tuna appetizer - 4
French onion soup - 4.5
Filet & crab cake - 4
Stuffed Ribeye - 3

Overall it was a good experience and would suggest it to others. I would come back when here again.

“Great food, bad service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014

The food is always great here. On this visit our waiter did a terrible job of taking care of us and paying attention to details. I asked him several questions about the menu and his only answer was, "I don't know." He never brought us our bread to go with out meal, I ordered sweet tea and on refills he gave me un sweet one time, sweet the next. It took forever for him to get our appetizer out. He said that someone "stole it" and he had to re-order it. He also said they were short of bread, even though all the tables around us had bread. Our meal was very good as always, but the waiter needs to learn his job is the customer.

“Surprised and delighted with the Seafood and Chicken choices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

My husband and I ate at the Lookout in downtown Gulfport for the first time and it was during lunch service on Saturday, 02/15/14. We were both pleasantly surprised at the offerings other than steak that were on the menu. I had the fried green tomatoes with roumalade sauce as an appetizer and these were some of the best fried green tomatoes I have ever had....lightly breaded and sauce was perfect. For the entree I had the blackened stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes and gravy and my husband had the Chicken Sandwich with fries. The starter salad was so good I would have been happy with that as a meal and the spicy ranch dressing gave it such a great taste. The flounder and the homemade potatoes and gravy were excellent. They had homemade fresh bread with honey butter prior to the meal and my husband said it was really good. My husband noted that the Chicken sandwich was really good, but after he tasted the flounder I ordered, he plans to get that on our next visit. The atmosphere is really inviting. Our waiter , Brandon, was really awesome and helpful. The prices were really good for the amount and quality of food. We are definitely going back ...and soon!!!

“Much More Than Steak - Seafood, Creole & Brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014 via mobile

The original Long Beach location relocated to an old bank building in downtown Gulfport post Katrina. The menu is massive and will make you wish for a tasting menu. The aged beef can be paired with local seafood favorites of shrimp, oysters and crab. Even though the apps (andouille queso, crawfish bread, smoked duck breast) are incredible, entrees are so large you'll wish you hadn't. The salad & sandwich menu is a full page, but we focused in on the Seafood & Specialties. Table favorites were Creole Trio & Catfish Supreme. The wait-staff are very attentive and offered their menu suggestions, while always keeping our beverages full. Note : The Brunch menu looked so good that we WILL be back Sunday. Think smoked turkey Benedict and pecan praline French toast with $3 mimosa's.
