“The South at its Best”

Add great service, great accommodations, great food and great drinks. Needless to say my recent visit to the Alluvian Hotel was nothing but the best. From the moment you have arrived the properties, Viking Corporation, have done a wonderful job in showcasing what the south truly has to offer. I highly recommend this hotel and the adjoining restuarant Giardina's to anyone needing some much time R&R.

For our anniversery, my husband and I stayed at the Alluvian Hotel and took a cooking class at the Viking Cooking School. We had a king suite...a corner room (Room 408). Very lovely. It was a very quiet room and was very, very comfortable. The Viking Cooking School is right across the street.

Our class was called "Date Night Decadence". We made lobster cakes, asparagus, blue cheese souffle, and mushroom stuffed beef tenderloin. We had a great time, learned a lot and ate FABULOUS food. I highly recommend both the Alluvian and the Viking Cooking School.

We had lunch at the Crystal Grill. It was also very good--an old restaurant in Greenwood.

My boyfriend surprised me with a birthday trip to the Alluvian, complete with a couples massage at the spa & cooking class across the street at Viking (not because I can't cook but because I love to cook...lol). It was a package he purchased & the hotel was wonderful. Comfy beds with Egyptian cotton sheets & towels. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Several of us from Arkansas wanted to go to the breakfast room on the 4th floor one evening to watch football & they immediately sent someone to unlock the door. Each room has a doorbell & an electronic button to push if you don't want to be disturbed (smart). We received a discount card upon check-in for some local business (and then forgot to use it). We also got coupons for free drinks at the bar. A great find in the city where The Help movie was filmed.

There 3 days on Business. Room was big, quiet and comfortable. Staff was great. The Hotel is owned by Viking appliances and it is a TOP NOTCH operation. The Bar and outside area are vibrant and the Hotel is elegant yet has a Southern kind of style. Did not get time to hit the Spa or cooking school but they appear to be just as nice. Have to go back for 4 days in October, taking the Wife and really looking forward to the trip. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

My wife and I spent the Friday and Saturday night of the labor Day Weekend At the Alluvian as part of our two week vacation touring Northern Mississippi. We paid $225 + tax a night for the King Size room and it was good value! The Alluvian team have everything right. We were checked in, our car valet parked, bags portered and settled into our room with grace and with style. The bed was simply the best I,ve slept in. Total luxury. Our room was 208 on the second floor a dual aspect corner room that had lovely views of Greenwoods downtown. The room was peaceful and the bathroom was large and had a great big shower cubicle. An unexpected bonus was the original work by Mississippian artists that adorn the Walls of the hotel. There is a stunning piece by Dunlap in reception and I felt privileged to have un restricted access to it. the art through out The Alluvian is wonderful. I recommend dining at the restaurant we had such a great experience that we opted to dine there both nights. I will hold this experience as the bench Mark for what an excellent hotel experience should be. it will be hard to give anyone a 5 unless they match the Alluvian in the future.

I've been meaning to write this review....but have been busy in wine country, so back to business. I was at the Alluvian in May for a weekend. I had heard such wonderful things, so booked a package along with massages & facials.
We excitedly greeted the lady at the front desk to find the rudest person I've ever encountered at a hotel. We smiled & continued to try & inquire about our room & a few other questions....just RUDE. I was hontesly shocked. They obviously don't really care if people visit their hotel or not because the second lady at the front desk was rude as well.
The spa services were fine & the girls in the spa were very pleasant.
Dinner at Giardina's was just ok. Our server was delightful, the food was nothing special. The manager made up for our champagne never being delivered to our room with a bottle of J & he went above & beyond to make the meal enjoyable.
The property has beautiful decor, but on a busy weekend the piano bar area is closed down & there is no bar service in the terrace area. This was confusing, as everyone had to cram into the tiny bar & lobby area.
If you want your luggage delivered to your room.....well, I called down three times, we would still be waiting on that I think.
Seems this hotel has potential but they need some tips on customer service.
