While travelling I-20 from Georgia to Texas, I searched several sites like Trip Advisor for hotels in Jackson, MS, where we intended to stop for the night. Discouraged by all the less than glowing reviews at my usual hotels in Jackson, I expanded my search and found the Hampton Inn in Flowood. We were pulling a 16-ft rental truck and loaded car carrier, and the winding roads to Flowood were a bit hairy. But when we arrived, not only did they have a room, but they had no problem with our parking our truck/trailer in the lot, and when I asked for quiet, they put us on the 5th floor where it was blissfully peaceful. We had just settled in when the desk phoned to ask if everything was in order. When the tv's technology baffled us, someone came right away to help. Several restaurants are within walking distance (although sadly, there are no sidewalks and the traffic on Lakeland Rd can be rather rude). They have one of the largest, cleanest breakfast areas with many selections - hot and cold. The price was very reasonable before my AARP discount. Yes, it's a bit out of the way, but it felt safe, the grounds well manicured, the parking lot spacious, and the staff were most pleasant. I'd recommend it to business or leisure travellers, including families.
