“Superb!!!”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

Our motorcycle group from Alabama visited Proffitt's Porch on April 12, 2014 based on reviews we had seen online. We are always in search of unique restaurants that are close enough for us to make a day trip for lunch. Each one of the 16 people in our group was very pleased with their meal. We ordered a variety of items including the gumbo, french dip sandwich, red beans and rice, taco soup and the most popular loaded twice baked potato. Our most picky eater even had red beans and rice and then ordered chocolate chip pie for dessert. You know it's good food when he eats that much!!! Proffitt's Porch looks like anything but a restaurant! We enjoyed the atmosphere of the porch. The people were very friendly and our waitress was fantastic! (I wish I could remember her name.) What a wonderful place - we are already planning to go back. :)

“INFORMAL DINING IN SECLUSION!”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

Proffitt's Porch is "dining understated" with a twist, informal and delicious. This could be Columbus' diamond in the rough and it surely goes a long way to great, informal dining. Secluded on Officer's Lake in Columbus Mississippi, stands an older frame structure with a large outside porch with picnic tables. You climb the stairs and are greeted real friendly like, by a member of the restaurant staff and she advises you to, "sit where you like". You immediately get the idea that this is something special and that you are in for a treat. The outside tables overlook Officer's Lake and the smell of the food cooking can make you very hungry. If you want petit de foe gras, or escargot , this is not the place but if you want a wonderful array of sandwiches and hearty plated lunches, then you are in the right place. While not overly abundant, the menu does have a fine selection of sandwiches both hot and cold as well as favorites like Red beans and rice, gumbo and seafood. Oh and be sure to try the Chocolate Chess Pie! You may order a half sandwich or an entire one if you feel hungry enough. We had the Roast Beef au jus and it was to die for! It is served in a basket and you can get a cup of potato salad with almost any order. This is not your run of the mill potato salad, but a rich tasting salad combined with a smoky flavor. Outstanding!! We also had Taco Soup which was delightfully tasty with a bit of a bite. There are other hot sauces available on the table to make it burn or not, as you desire. The service was excellent and the folks working there were very friendly and professional. The restaurant is family owned and operated and it makes for a very pleasurable dining experience.

This is a venue you do not want to miss when you are in the Columbus, Mississipi area. Reward yourself with the simple fare and down home great hospitality, you will not regret it. Oh, by the way, if you go when it is a bit nippy out, be sure to wear a sweater or coat because it do get cold on the porch. You may also, if you are a bit skittish about dining on the porch, eat inside in their dining room but then you would have to say you ate at "Proffitt's Dining Room", no where near as colorful as Proffitt's Porch, eh?

“Fantastic ”
Reviewed February 14, 2014 via mobile

My fiancé and I chose to visit Proffitt's Porch for our Valentine's Day dinner. We were looking for a more casual, quaint feel, and it did not disappoint. Their seafood gumbo was fantastic, and both my fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed the French dip sub. Bottom line: great prices, delicious food, and a relaxing atmosphere make Proffitt's Porch a must-taste experience if one is in the Columbus area.

“After all these years”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

There is nothing better than enjoying a great meal on the deck overlooking Officer's Lake at Proffitt's Porch. I have been going there for twenty-four years and it is always great. If you like good sandwiches, red beans and rice, and chocolate chess pie, this is the place for you! Skip the chains and ask a local for directions.
