This place is absolutely amazing; it is a photographers dream. We stayed in the Electric Blue shack with our friends and we loved it. Every time you turned around you would notice another interesting picture or artefact. There is a bar on site and when we stayed we were entertained by a Blues singer, so unless you need food you don't need to drive into Clarksdale, you can stay on site. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to friends. We went into Clarksdale the next day and was greeted by the Mayor. There is a great bar called Ground Zero which is part owned by Morgan Freeman.

Room Tip: All the Shacks look amazing

We were here for 4 days on a blues road trip in the mississippi delta. We couldn't wish for a more appropriate accommodation. If you want the most out of the experience get one of the shacks. Be sure to check out the cat head store for all info on blues in the area and reds juke joint for the shows.

Absolutely brilliant place to stay. We were there out of season and got a shack straight away. Everything closed at 8 but we were assured the summer months had bands and a later bar. The cabins are completely amazing with porches and your choice of music instruments. Lounging out in the rocking chair with a beer - can't beat it. Cabins were spacious and the town was just a few minutes drive - including the Robert Johnson crossroads. Will definitely try and return.

This is the coolest place I've been to in a long time. The shacks are great. I walked in & immediately was reminded of my grandmother's 200 year old house in Alabama. The "blues tv" was already on so as soon as you walk in you are immersed in the music. The Legends Shack was full of posters, art, and graffiti. You could spend a few hours or more just reading all the notes and things that visitors have written all over the walls, doors & every place in between. It looked rustic & worn, but everything worked and was clean.

We happened to arrive on a weekend when they were having a big party in the Chapel & we were immediately invited to join them. It was by far the best costume party I had been to all week. The music was amazing, the people were interesting and friendly, and the ambience was relaxed and fun. Well worth the drive and we will definitely be going back often.

Room Tip: If you want more of a "hotel room" feel, get a bin. Otherwise get a Shack. The Shacks are...

The Shack Up isn't going to be for everyone and their website makes this more than clear! But we loved it. It's been lovingly put together and you just want to take photos at every turn. It feels very much like a glamping experience in that it's considerably more comfortable than you expect it to be. October is possibly not the best time to visit as the temperature wasn't the highest which meant we couldn't take advantage of our outside porch for long - and this feels like an integral part of the Shack Up experience. Similarly, the bar next door was pretty empty (us and just a few locals) with a real 'out of season' vibe which was a shame. We also managed to visit on one of the (frequent) days when legendary blues club Ground Zero was closed. These points are all down to our planning but useful for other travellers to consider. One minor point on the accommodation would be the noise made by the fridge which definitely could impact on sleep. However such a minor issue shouldn't out anyway one - there is so much here that is right. Great value, wonderful staff and lots of fun. Please, don't go changing Shack Up!

We stayed in the Office and the Chicken Coop. Both were great places to stay in. They are planning on extending the entertainment area which will be much better, because at the moment they only have music on a Monday night and you have to go into town in the evening for music the rest of the time.

Room Tip: The Office is one of the originals and is very close to a lot of the other shacks, while the Chicken...

No frills, rustic as all get out, and completely amazing in every way. Stayed in the Pinetop Shack with a couple of friends and had a great time sitting out on the back porch and telling stories. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will visit again for sure.
