Your looking at the shack up inn; goes without saying your seeking an authentic Deep South blues trail experience, right? Well you've found it folks! Shack up inn is exactly what it says it is, but words hardly do justice to the feelings of history you feel when you step inside your shack! To top it off, you find remnants (the good kinds- letters, cards, receipts, etc.) of the shacks many previous guests, so you are drawn into what can only be described as a kindred circle of lucky individuals whom you share this experience with!
Being from a small town in what you might call the Deep-er South (Texas), we found the shack to be reminiscent of country cabins, hideaways, etc.
The key is on their website--- it is not the Ritz-- but that in itself is a bit of a misnomer-- your towels will be mismatched- coffee is in a mason jar- etc., etc. but look closely enough and I think you'll share the opinion that shack up inn is more than comfortable, guests are catered to with impeccable service; and in truth the property itself is more well built foundations covered appropriately with later upon layer of authentic blues/shack/deep south items, memorabilia, and fixins'.
Go! Stay! Enjoy!!!

What a find! This place is so neat. Our friends are envious. The cutest, coziest little place I've ever been in. Very friendly people. Clean, music on site in evening. Antiques all over. I would love to stay here again. Our neighbors are from Finland. They found it on internet too. .

Their website tells you upfront "This Ain't the Ritz" and they go on to tell you not to expect high thread count sheets and room service. My kinda place! We stayed in the Legends Shack along with a couple of friends from Memphis and we absolutely loved the shack.

I was there in mid-February so the weather was windy and cold and not as conducive to all the shackers sitting out on their porches or at the community picnic tables. We saw a big group of folks there but they weren't very social. Guess I forgot my deodorant. But I look forward to coming back and staying in several of the different shacks and the cotton gin bins looked cool too. The employees were the nicest people and very helpful with ideas of things to do around Clarksdale.

There is a place next door called The Commissary and it is not affiliated with the Shack Up Inn. This particular Saturday night, they had a crawfish boil going on and you pay a guy to cook you up 3 lbs of crawfish with corn on the cob and a potato. It was great and the live music inside the Commissary was good.

I rented a shack for a week during February to get some writing done. Cozy and artfully shabby. Office Shack even had a full desk and comfy chair. Although the wireless internet was weak, this was actually a plus if you're looking to really get away from all distractions. Truly a memorable stay.

We stayed at the Shack Up Inn in the Fullilove shack for Valentine's Day and couldn't have been more pleased!! I had heard fantastic things about the the Shack prior to booking from friends who had celebrated different occassions there, but my husband was less than thrilled when I told him where he would be staying for this romantic holiday. However, he was pleasantly surprised by the rich culture this place had to offer. Our shack was very clean and the bed slept very well (probably a little too soft, actually). The lobby/bar has a wide selection of beers and they are very reasonably priced. Plus, you can't beat being able to listen to the blues, drink some Mississippi speciality beer, and stumble back to your own personal shack at the end of the night! I highly recommend this Inn for any occassion and will definitely be back to enjoy another shack next time. Oh, and you can purchase framed prints of your shack in the lobby for $40 to commemorate your stay. I cannot express how full of Mississippi culture and hertiage this place is and what a treat it was to stay here!!!

On our road trip to New Orleans I surprised my husband and sister with the Shackup Inn. They were certainly surprised , but they warmed up to the rustic room quickly. The beds were very comfortable. We spent a fun evening at Ground Zero. Thanks for the memorable stay in Clarksdale.

We stayed at the ShackUp Inn for two nights and wished we had stayed longer. While we were there the weather was pretty appalling - it was very cold and rainy which soon turned to icy sleet. This was an excellent test of the warmth and waterproof-ness of the shack which passed with flying colours.

We stayed in the Crossroads shack and found it had everything we wanted: a comfortable bed, warmth, a clean bathroom and a selection of books to read. And a piano.
