I grew up on Clarksdale. Went to school next door to the Clark House when it was a private home. It was great to stay in the Clark House on a weekend trip to C'dale. Billy is a fabulous innkeeper. Lots of humor and very helpful. Rooms were most comforatable.

I give this an unqualified recommendation!

We stayed in the cottage behind the house, in two of the three rooms, each having a nice porch.
The rooms are a good size and the beds had great mattresses. A small fridge would have been nice, however we could use the one in the main house. The continental breakfast was simple but adequate. The coffee was very good, brewed from freshly ground beans.Billy is a great host and very informative. We hope to return soon and take in some more Great Delta Blues.

The Clark House is, quite simply, a wonderful residential inn, the likes of which one is unlikely to come across too often in one's lifetime. We stayed here in early September and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, which was accentuated by having this truly magnificent place to ourselves. Special thanks to Aubrey for welcoming us, checking us in and getting breakfast ready which was much appreciated. We'll be back!!

Room Tip: If you have any mobility problems then opt for the bedroom on the ground floor of the main house whi...

Nice place, nice people. This is the original house of the founder of Clarksdale, built before and completed after the Civil War.Clarksdale is the literal epicenter of the Blues. The crossroads where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil( in order to be the greatest Blues guitarist of all time) is about a mile south.Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke , Bebe King and countless others are from the area. WC Handy ( the self proclaimed father of the Blue) was a resident musician. Not to mention, Tenesee Williams Sumered here with his grand parents. His grandfather was the much beloved Anglican Priest. So there are Juke joints( Red'sand Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Club) ,Festivals( Blues and a Tennesee Williams ) and good Barbeque. Its worth staying a couple of days , unfortunately we had only one.

My recent stay at Clark House was nothing short of great ! The house is magnificent and the Inn Keeper Billy was awesome! The rooms are very cozy and comfortable while providing you with the kind of space that just makes you feel right at home. We had been traveling the Mississippi Blues Trail all day going from place to place taking in the sights and sounds of the Delta and its people and we were exhausted. But from the moment we entered Clark house up until the time we left we were thoroughly pleased. The bed was very comfortable and I felt so rested the next morning I wanted to extend my stay by a few days at Clark house. We met other guests staying at the house as well who were quite friendly. The continental breakfast was awesome with a variety of breads, fruits and other breakfast snacks being provided. We even befriended one of the house keepers Ms. Clara. The city and the house are just steeped in history for an added bonus. If you go to Clarksdale you should stay at Clark house because you will be quite pleased and will want to return.

I have stayed all over Clarksdale and the Clark House is by far the best. The location is incredibly relaxing with an old south front porch to have breakfast and drinks on in the afternoon if you want.
This is The Real Old South experience. I have stayed in 4 different rooms now, 3 in the main house and 1 in the little house. None of them will disappoint. This house has been beautifully restored and the Inn's owner and inn keeper are great host. Can't go wrong here.

Room Tip: There is not a bad room at the Inn.

The Clark House is a trip back to the world of Tennessee Williams in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, home of the blues. Williams' character names like Blanche Clark Coutrier (think Dubois), Baby Doll (a childhood friend of Williams), Brick (real life bully not so tough in Cat...Roof) were real people and part of the neighborhood's lore - just ask Billy, the proprietor, who can give you the history. Nothing fake or here. The restored antebellum house is elegant, simple, and comfortable. Blues and literature lovers both will feel right at home. You may be living like Big Daddy at Clark, but it's a short walk to great blues clubs like Red's.

Room Tip: Three rooms in guest house out back still allow access (a key) to kitchen and all else in main house...
