This hotel is fabulous! We stayed here when walking the QCT and the accommodation is fabulous, fantastic view of the Sound, very spacious room, comfy bed and Trevor's Pizzas were delicious! Thoroughly recommend this place! We will be back to finish the Track as weather sabotaged our last day's walk!

Units are clean, stunning views, what a great location to sit on the verandah with a coffee. We loved just cruising around the property. Good location for Queen Charlotte as well, even if you're just doing day walks on the track. Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Bring your own supplies!! All cooking facilities are provided - just bring the food.

I stayed at Te Mahia Bay Resort in January this year - in one of the older style rooms with a superb view of the Bay from the breakfast table. Arrived via water taxi from Picton where hosts Trevor and Jan picked us (as well as all our bags and groceries) up.

My room had a small but perfectly adequate kitchen - allowing us to be self sufficient.

Te Mahia Bay encourages complete relaxation - once you arrive you are in a different world. No noise - no bustle - hardly any people. You can also be as active as you like as well. Kayaks cost $5 per hour to hire. Also it's a short walk up the hill and you can access the Queen Charlotte Track for some of the most scenic hiking ever.

There is a cafe on site where you can also pick up groceries and wine if you need to.

I felt completely rejuvenated after a week here and look forward to the next time I stay.

Started the drive from Havelock along the Kenepuru Road towards Kenepuru Head but the road is just one very very very long very bendy road! I love driving but it is so repetetive we gave up after an hour. We had seen a tiny white sign on the left hand side of the road pointing down a steep dirt track! Te Mahia Bay Resort (40 mins from Havelock) is an amazing gem in the middle of no where. We only ended up stopping for tea and cakes and sitting on the patio looking out over Kenepuru sound. It is one of the most tranquil places iv ever been too in the world! The view is just spectacular and you can hear a pin drop. We watched the lage birds diving to catch fish from 50-60 metres up a truely amazing place. We wished we had the time to stay over as all the rooms looked fab and with a view to die for.

We mountain biked a section of the track and called into Te Mahia Bay Resort for a coffee. What a hidden oasis!! We wished we had more time to stay here for a week or more. The coffee was fantastic and one of the best we had throughout the North and South Islands. The owner was lovely and very hospitable (even though we only bought a couple of coffees). Definitely recommend heading here for a self contained extended break.

We felt incredibly fortunate to find this piece of paradise. On arrival we were made to feel really welcome. The units are spacious, comfortable, well designed and have fabulous views. The gardens are beautiful with pleasant places to sit and read. It's a great location for day walks along the Queen Charlotte Sound track. The winter rates are incredibly good value.

Arrived as a group of 6, we were instantly made to feel at home, we borrowed kayaks and hand reels for $5 per hour and were informed on the best places to fish- we didn't catch dinner but the amazing outlook, peaceful surroundings, glow worms and well stocked shop with reasonably priced wine kept us in awe of this amazing resort. We will be back! Thank you for making our stay memorable!
