When passing in front of this center, you almost have to do a double take when you realize it's a beautiful welcome center that looks like an antebellum home. Once you step onto the verandah and turn around, you have a spectacular view of the light house as well as the pier leading out to the Gulf of Mexico. Once inside, many artifacts to look at, including relic from Katrina, a charming gift shop, and very very friend staff who will answer your questions with a smile. Go up to the 2nd floor and stand on that verandah also.. the view gets even more spectacular, and adds wonderful photo opportunities. The grounds are beautifully manicured... just a nice place to stop and use the facilities.. get some directions/information and/or a free cup of coffee..as well as pick up a unique souvenir or two. Free parking across the street from the light house.. on the beach side... definitely a must stop and see.
