Owner description: We invite you to enjoy all that makes our museum unique: the artists, the architecture, the history, and the landscape. The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art celebrates the innovative, independent and creative spirit of our namesake Mississippi master potter George Ohr. In a fitting tribute to Ohr, artist and architect Frank Gehry designed an award winning campus of bold intriguing self sufficient structures. The campus consists of our Mississippi Sound Welcome Center, three art galleries, the reconstructed home of Pleasant Reed, and our City of Biloxi Center for Ceramics. These buildings and the exhibits therein offer visitors separate but not isolated experiences - together creating a single unified vision connected by the expansive brick plaza and the majestic Live Oaks.

“Neat place but not very big”
Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

This is a great place that celebrates local artists. Several things there are really interesting and neat to see. It is very small, however, so don't expect lots of exhibits. If you like pottery and local art, this is a god place. Maybe when the construction is finished there will be more exhibits open.

“Beautiful & Interesting”

Attended a family wedding at the museum. We were able to walk around the grounds and enjoyed the interesting architecture. It was a gorgeous venue for a wedding.

“Did I miss something”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

I suppose living in London it is one of the worlds museum capitals and its done well, this is well, what can I say, lacking. The staff are friendly and approachable but there is little to see it left me wondering what all the fuss was about. This is listed as a top attraction i am glad i am not judging Biloxi but its museum offering i found the fire station more interesting. I felt more should have been made of the heritage of the Pleasant Reed house which gives a great in sight into the old Biloxi but it felt like the museums 'poor relation'. Don't list this as a must see, it is disappointing and i did not like the design at all, I love architecture, that's my husbands business this looks like a blemish on Highway 90.

“Limited but interesting”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

We used our AAA discount so it didn't seem as overpriced. The museum is very well done;clean, adequate staff for questions, ample & informative brochures. I think an audio to accommodate the tour would be beneficial as well as the completion of the Pods which will add to the experience. Very interesting

“a little jewel on the gulf coast”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

What an odd, enchanting place! It was built to showcase the life and work of the "mad potter of biloxi" George Ohr, who was a creative genius in clay but completely ignored during his lifetime.

It is spread out over several buildings -- both new and heritage, and the redesign has been overseen by Frank Gehry (yes, that Frank Gehry). We spent a very pleasant few hours wandering around the various galleries. Docents were lovely and informative. We seemed to be the only visitors, which is sad, but I guess the Casinos are the main attraction in Biloxi.

Definitely worth a visit!
