Amazing! What a very nice surprise! I had visited Beauvoir many years ago and loved this historical site then. I returned this month to find it well intact even after the devastation of Katrina to this area. Jefferson Davis' home has been completely restored. I could visualize my parents sitting on the front porch of this great house when they visited the grounds in the 1940's. Besides that, it is a great place for anyone who loves history to see how folks lived during Confederate times. On this trip, I also visited the library. Good historical information for history lovers and genealogist looking for ancestry information. Very interesting books about the Confederate period can be purchased in the Beauvoir Gift Shop. This Museum, House and Library tell a true story of the life and times of all who lived during this historical period that changed America!

“Southern pride”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

My husband is a true southern man so this was a must. The tour of the family home is very interesting and well worth the time and cost. The restoration from Katrina is unbelievable.

“Must See!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

History buffs and anyone interested in learning more about Jefferson Davis will love this place. Majestic antebellum mansion and grounds plus fantastic museum depicting life and times of this Confederate president. Right down the road from the Biloxi VC, making these two facilities a great way to spend a day learning about Biloxi and the old south.

“Nice Property and Great View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

We had a reception for about 150 people at Beauvior and it was very nice. The old home was interesting and the view of the Gulf was great. We had perfect weather, which made the evening very nice. The food provided was good (not great, but very good). I very much enjoyed the atmosphere.

“Save your time and money”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2014

We were looking for a non-casino indoor activity and chose the Beauvoir. We paid for the horse drawn wagon ride around the grounds and the tour and it was $13, which was reasonable (there was a military discount available, which was nice as part of our group was active military). The wagon ride equated to a thirty minute ride around the property to see where the horses stay, the board of directors house, the house where security resides, the garden (which was viewable without the tour), and the graveyard. The horses were very tired and unfortunately the driver was not able to answer any of our questions. To be fair, the driver and horses had only been doing this for five weeks but the map we received at the visitors shop had more facts than the guide.

The driver took us back late so we missed the final tour of the day. The guide found us and told us we could come back the next day for the tour as she wasn't able to get back in. The guide was extremely nice and apologetic. We walked through the museum instead which took around ten minutes. Unfortunately, it appeared that Katrina did extensive damage to the museum holdings.

Our issue with the visit boiled down to the wagon driver. The grounds were fine and they had done what the could with the holdings. The cost was reasonable. We just wouldn't recommend this to anyone based on our experience.
