Waking up early, we went walking to search for breakfast and were fortunate to find Buttercup, owned by a charming gentleman called Jamie. It is a place of southern hospitality, where on our second visit the next morning, Jamie knew our names and what we liked to drink. Better yet, the food was plentiful, delicious and served with just the right amount of friendliness and humor. The first morning we sat inside where there was only one free table - lots of families and local people. The next morning we sat outside under trees with birds signing their little hearts out - simple delightful. Jamie rebuilt his business after Katrina and, like others we met, is committed to Bay St Louis and to giving people great food for a good value. Buttercup also does lunch, but we didn't manage to get there - we will next time.
