“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

Spent a week here following a week in Kruger (whole trip organised by Siyabona). This was our 'relax' week and relaxed is what we got.

Good pick up from the airport and straight from our room. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Room was lovely and food was great (barracuda!). The resort itself is a little hidden gem with a beautiful pool and gardens and main building.

Sonette and Joe were perfect hosts, not intrusive and seemed to know how much to speak to you or what you needed.

Couldn't do the Ocean safari because of choppy seas but did do a little snorkelling and canoeing. The beach is beautiful and hardly a soul on it. Long walks and beautiful sunsets.

We recently spent a wonderful 12 days at this hotel. We had our own cottage facing the sea with a small veranda outside and access to the beach. The cottage is very comfortable with all amenities and always kept very clean. The hotel is a little oasis with a beautiful garden and palm trees.
We did very extensive research before booking this place and were very happy with our choice. It seems to be the best hotel of its standard, certainly in this area, it is very smart and elegant and has the feel of a boutique hotel where you get treated as an individual and it does not have the feel of a large hotel where you are just a number. There are a couple of other hotels in the area of reasonable standard but they seem to be bigger and do not have the same kind of private treatment feel.
We were on a diving holiday so the hotel was very convenient, there are two diving centres within 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
The food was excellent, a nice mix of sea food, which is locally sourced, and good stakes and really tasty grilled chicken. As we stayed for so long they even asked us if we wanted to eat something else so they prepared some lovely crab especially for us. I bought some fish from local fishermen a couple of times and the hotel were happy to cook it for me.
All the staff are extremely friendly and have a good sense of humour. The lovely couple who run it are also very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure that we had a good holiday.
It is a good choice if you want a good standard hotel with good food and close to excellent diving. We went there mainly to see manta rays and whale sharks and we did get to seem them! there are other areas nearby, for example Tofo, but that seems to be geared up for back packers and seems much busier. Further north there is good diving but the problem is that the hotels are very expensive so Barra seems to be a good choice for reasonable cost, good hotel and excellent diving.

i was lucky enough to book my girlfriend an i a holiday away in mozambique. It's easy to find places in Inhambane that are very "backpacker-esq" and this beaut of a spot stood out for us.

They have a fine dining styled dining room and a bar with little bits on it directly on the sexy beach.

The staff are friendly and speak EXCELLENT english!

I look forward to returning hopefully we can spend our honeymoon there too! ;-)

We recently stayed at this beautiful property. That definitely offers value for money.
The rooms are neat and incredibly chic, hotel service with a more personal and friendly touch thanks to the over and above service from the staff and a management couple.
We recommend anyone with teenagers go and visit this property if you are looking for the perfect get away for all members of the family.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful but we stayed in the ocean deluxe with our kids next door. Close to the...

We stayed at Barra Beach Club for 8 days, was supposed to be 6, but enjoyed it so much we extended our stay. It suited us as it was a small - about 12 room, boutique resort. No children running about while we were there.
Our room was stunning, spacious, clean, beautifully furnished, private.
We could access the beach from a garden area outside our room, this garden also had outdoor shower and outdoor furniture, a nice garden to relax in privately.
The food at the restaurant was supurb, with a good variety on the menu and a good selection of SA wines.
The pool was nice, not huge but big enough to cool off in, plenty of beach chairs around the pool for lounging.
The bar on the beach was a great place for lunch and cocktails and whale watching, it also had a pool.
The beach was amazing, great for long walks and swimming. It also has plenty of other little restaurants and bars that you can visit.
Activities were easily arranged through the reception, massages at the local spa, diving, kayaking in the mangroves, ocean safaris.
The managers Joe and Sonnette really made our stay, they were professional and fun, always ensuring we were having an amazing holiday. They went out of their way, taking us to town with them one day and showing us sights around Inhambane.
We sadly left beautiful Barra Beach Club, we could have stayed forever.

We had a good time but we expected a lot more for the price we paid. The sliding door in our room couldn't lock and the water from the shower flowed into our room. The food was good but not a lot to choose from on the menu. Don't think we'll go back.

Superb setting and more than we expected. With a choice of two swimming pools or the beach coupled with friendly service and well-mannered staff we couldn't have asked for more. Thanks to the management team, Sonette and Joe, for being so flexible and accommodating to us. The food was delicious, from starters to main course and dessert (oh and thanks for the crab curry). Great beach front with chilled waves and plenty coconuts to throw around. Hope to be back soon.

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite, has choice of bath or shower with its own outdoor shower and entrance to the beach...
