“Almost a perfect hotel but falls flat in service due to housekeeping; Soft water - soap hard to rinse off”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

Really nice rooms, clean, and spacious. Great bathroom with sliding glass door showers.
Housekeeping drops the ball! Hotel is only as good as it's weakest link - which is housekeeping.

Why no liners in the trash cans? Does this really save the hotel money? Gross! Imagine all the crap people put in that bathroom waste basket that has no liner. But wait - trusty housekeeping will wipe that trash can clean with the same cloth they clean the bathroom counter with. Lovely!

Found that my bottom sheet on the bed was not a fitted sheet - meaning in comes loose from the mattress when you roll around in bed. Why! Called front desk and housekeeping quickly delivered a fitted sheet for me to put onto the bed. Asked her why? She stated they run out of fitted sheets and instead will use the flat non-fitted sheet for the bottom sheet. What? Sacrificing customer service and quality because you can't maintain enough clean fitted sheets? Really? Outrageous and incompetent. Fire the housekeeping manager now!

Soft water means you can't rinse soap off your body so expect to take 10 minutes longer in the shower. Why do hotels do this to guests? Why the yucky soft water?

Don't bother ordering breakfast via room service. Delivered late and order inaccurate.

Unfortunately, the lax non-caring staff cause this potentially great hotel to fall flat in it's service. Shame.

Requested the GM (Steve) call me if he cares to, to discuss these inadequacies. Let's see if he bothers to do so.

Room Tip: stay elsewhere. Try the Hilton Garden Inn (Oakdale).

I stayed here for business meeting at 3M so this hotel was very conveniently located. Excellent room with comfortable bed, nice desk area, Starbucks coffee in room and lobby, and very good selection of products in bath. I stayed on the executive floor so they had a continental breakfast in the morning and snacks in the evening. There was a fridge with a variety of drinks in it throughout the day out in the common area. There is no fridge in the room which is an improvement that would be nice in this hotel. I used the wifi in my room, and there were some computers down in the lobby also. I ordered room service which was pricey (not billed the same cost as listed in the menu for the Walleye dinner), but the food was good. All in all a convenient and comfortable business hotel.

Hotel is nice enough, and clean looking. No complaints with the room, Except - Wireless Internet sucks! Don't expect it to be reliable enough to paint a Web page. Pathetic!! Called front desk and complained,, they said it's being worked on by the vendor. All week?? Really? Was than told to use the cable wired internet instead.

Requested that the manager call me so that I can discuss this pathetic internet (lack of) service But manager never returned my call! How rude!! Manager doesn't care enough to call a customer back. Wow! Manager in hiding!!

Asked front desk girl for a fridge in my room, and her reply was "I will try". What? Try? what the hell is that?? Either you can deliver the customers request or you can not..

Sadly, other than the Hilton Garden Inn in Oakdale, this sad pathetically managed Sheraton may be the best option.

Management deserves a swift kick in the you know what!!

Room Tip: Try Hilton Garden Inn in Oakdale.

Ana G, General Manager at Sheraton St. Paul Woodbury Hotel, responded to this review, May 23, 2012
Mr. Beck, I am sorry to hear of your less than perfect experience at the Sheraton St. Paul Woodbury Hotel. The large majority of our guests are always very satisfied with our product and service. We do respond to every guest that reaches out to us. We view feedback (positive and negative) as a gift. Do you remember who you left a message with? If so I'd like to know who that person is, so that I might use your unfortunate situation as a teachable moment.

We are upgrading our complimentary HSIA system. There is such a demand on our available bandwidth with some guests streaming movies and connecting more than one device, etc. We do provide refridgerators, also complimentary, but there is not an unlimited supply. We honor the requests of our (SPG) Starwood Preferred Guests first, then other requests on a first come basis.

Again, thank you for your comments. There is never any excuse for our associates being less than warm and assuring you a comfortable stay. We obviously failed to meet your expectations, and for that I apologize. Hopefully your travels will bring you back to the St. Paul area and you'll give us another try. If that's ever the case, I ask that you contact me directly.

Warm regards,
Steve Thomas

I stayed here in May 14 -16th, 25 mins from Minnesota St Paul airport. I was visiting the Woodbury medical centre. This was ideally placed for this visit as it was a 5 min drive between the two.
The reception staff were very pleasant and handling all requests timely and efficiently. They even got me some slippers for use in the hotel, to get me to the pool! Although this was very small and highly chlorinated. The gym is also small but has everything you would need to get a sweat on. There is also a small shop behind reception for any amenities you may have forgotten.

The breakfast was standard for the states, but the service made up for this as it was superb.
Starbucks is free in the lobby as is wifi in the hotel.

The hotel is position a little out of the way of main St Paul, but it's an easy drive.

If you fancy spending some left over dollars, the Mall of America is on route back to the airport. It is massive, it even has a fairground inside it!

My stay at the hotel was very good, the room was of a good standard and had a large bathroom. The iron in the room was good as an 11 hour flight tends to crease your packed shirts!

I would stay here again, although I may travel with my own tea bags next time.

Many thanks.

I stayed at the Woodbury Sherraton for a business event and I had a great experience. As the hotel had kids basket ball teams the clerk placed me at the club level to have a more quiet room - thanks, these kids were wild and parents careless.
The rooms are not huge for this class of hotel but the comfort was perfect and the bathroom really nice with not only shampoo but also mouth wash, body wash etc... but no mini bar :-)

Great hotel, Great staff basket ball teams or not.

Room Tip: Book a club level room

The hotel was very nice- brand new and quiet with stylish appointments. Nice lobby and bar area with a fireplace decorated like an old English country house. The room was a standard size with a very comfy bed, really nice bathroom and plenty of of TV channels. I especially appreciated the free Starbucks coffee, both in-room and in the lobby. There is a nice pool, whirlpool and fitness area on the first floor.

We didn't have too many experiences with the staff but everyone we encountered was friendly. But there didn't seem to be too many staff on duty on the weekends.

My only gripe - and this is real knit-picky - is that the hotel lacks the character of many 3* hotels. It's a cookie-cutter prototype stuck in the middle of a field, with no attempt at localization. It could just as easily be a Hampton Inn or Courtyard anywhere in the country, or world for that matter.

All in all though I'd definitely stay again. Well worth a $100 rate.

My wife and I have stayed at the Sheraton twice in the last three months and have found the rooms and the facility in general to be well maintained. On average we have paid about $100 per night as found on sites like kayak.com. The rooms are modern and comfortable with soft pillows. The rooms come with a large desk area as well. The location on the western edge of Woodbury is also nice (just off of 494 near the 494/694/94 interchange).

Room Tip: The west side of the building faces 494, but we could not hear any noise. The western rooms would al...
