“9 month anniversary night out!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

This was a great hotel for a night out. My wife and I celebrated our 9 month anniversary at this hotel, and had a king suite w/ a whirlpool/hot tub. It was very nice! We had supper in the hotel restaurant 'Rudy's Redeye Grill' which was very good. The hotel breakfast was also very good! The breakfast area was near the pool, and a nice clean area. The food was average, but I enjoyed the atmosphere of the indoor courtyard. We didn't swim in the pool, we were too busy enjoying the whirlpool and fireplace in the room. And we had a corner suite with multiple windows. It was comfortable. But the hotel courtyard with the pool/ballroom area was nice.

We noticed there were many rooms with windows facing the pool/ballroom area, so I can't comment on the amount of noise those rooms got from the pool area, and whether or not that would be too noisy or disturbing. Our windows faced outside, and there wasn't much noise. I would recommend at least asking for a room NOT facing the pool area to guarantee a quiet night. But again, we had a quiet night in our room. :-)

The room decor was nice. I noticed a wall outlet without a socket cover, but it wasn't really noticeable. The bathroom wasn't very modern. It was clean, but felt more like a bathroom from a Day's Inn or economy hotel. And the room had a 'hotel' smell to it. A clean smell, but a 'hotel' smell. But I noticed everything was clean, nothing seemed dirty, and overall the room was great!

Definitely give this hotel a try!

These people need to get serious about noise control. We needed connecting rooms because we had a 3-year-old with us. We were only staying one night, envisioning fun in the pool, a quiet dinner in the attached restaurant, and then early to bed to be ready for a family dinner next day.

Ha!! Yes, you would expect a little noise in a hotel with a pool in the atrium courtyard, when your second floor rooms overlook it. But seeing that the pool was supposed to close at 10 for children, 11 for adults, we figured this would be OK.

We had NOT, however, reckoned on the event they had in their "ballroom," adjacent to the atrium and quite near our rooms. This event included the setup of an auxiliary bar area RIGHT UNDER OUR WINDOWS, and the rooms are FAR from soundproof. So we had loud thumping music from the ballroom, and loud talking and laughing drunks a few feet away.

The baby woke up and couldn't get back to sleep--"I don't like this place," she said. We were told on our first call to the front desk that the music would last until 11. At 11 they admitted it would be midnight. At midnight they said they were working to get the area clear. At 12:30 or 1 they said the police were there, and it should be clear "soon." We might have gotten to sleep for a bit, but then the regular bar closed at 2 AM, and there were more loud people in the atrium.

I have NEVER stayed in any hotel with this level of noise, and the staff seemed to think we would just have to understand that they had an event booked and accept it. I fail to understand why any hotel would give a family with a young child rooms so close to the noise, in that case.

Oh , yes, the rooms were nice, he restaurant OK, the staff friendly, etc. Butwhat good is that when it's TOO LOUD to SLEEP in your hotel room!!!

Room Tip: Find a room somewhere else!

Dear Guest:
We apologize that we were unable to live up to our high quality of standards and exceptional customer service in which we take great pride in offering our guests. We sincerely apologize for the noise and the perception that our staff member did not seem to care. I promise you we do care. I have spoken with my staff to reiterate no matter the time of day if there is a noise issue that isn’t being handled correctly they are to call me or our General Manager directly and we will personally come to the hotel and resolve the problem. In addition to discussing these concerns with the staff, I have also contacted the security company making them aware that their service was not up to our standards and must be improved.
We are fortunate to have a very busy property and take every precaution to control noise. When an event is in our ballroom or atrium we always make sure to have security on site. We do understand that the rooms poolside or near the atrium can experience more outside noises, so we do offer other room options that are not poolside or overlooking the atrium, facing the outside of the building.
Again we apologize, in an effort to show you how important you are to us we have refunded your overnight stay to the credit card on file, and are offering you a complimentary overnight stay in our hotel at a future date of your choice. When making your reservation please contact our General Manager Eric Perkins or myself directly at 651-429-5393, so we can ensure that all your needs are met.
We truly appreciate you taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention as this is how we can continue to improve and offer exceptional customer service to all of our guests.
Sincerely,
Bill Foussard

We got the absolute treat of staying here for 3 days at the end of a very busy travel schedule and it was seriously like a gift from the heavens.
The lobby is the epitome of charming complete with a fireplace. The restaurant and bar Ruby's has marvelous food for very reasonable prices (I am still dreaming of the grilled portobello mushroom sandwich and perfect chicken noodle soup). A lovely pool and terrific work out room, as well as very nice continental breakfast and decent guest laundry facilities (a dryer that actually gets your clothes done in ONE CYCLE, you would be surprised what a rarity that is in so many places, including laundromats).
Now I have not even begun on how fantastic the rooms are, a comfortable thermostat, great cable, excellent running WIFI and seriously a bed in which you will want to move into!
And everywhere I went the staff was asking how everything was and if there was anything they could do. Now, while I am on the staff, I was in great need of getting a box of things shipped off, and there was a very conveniently located post office, but not really great for walking on this sub zero day. So when I called to see if maybe there was a shuttle, the General Manager, Eric not only drove me there buy waited about 30 minutes while I boxed and taped everything up, and got waited on.....one of his co workers even gave me packing tape. It was a really big favor that this person REALLY NEEDED and I am beyond grateful!
Also the location has coffee shops, a McDonalds, a CVS (about a half mile, but on a nice day would be a lovely walk), and other very nice shops nearby!
If you are in the neighborhood, you need to give this place your business!

This past weekend we stayed overnight at the Best Western (formerly Country Inn) and were pleasently surprised. Perhaps it was due to my prejudice towards Best Westerns in the past, but this hotel was very nice, very clean with all the bells ans whistles. This hotel features lots of group space around the pool, an amazing hot breakfast buffet, clean updated rooms and is connected to a wonderful restaurant, Rudy's Redeye Grill.

Room Tip: If you are with kids - I encourage a pool side room.

We had to extend our weekend stay at the hotel because of a heavy snowstorm that made travel by car treacherous. As we prepared to leave the following morning (Monday), we found our vehicle buried under a foot of snow. Nick, a desk employee, quickly joined us with a shovel and not only removed most of the snow from our car, but also shoveled behind the vehicle so that we were able to back out of our parking space without getting stuck. We rewarded Nick with a gratuity, even though he tried to insist such action was not necessary. We are very appreciative for his assistance. We also should mention the desk crew during our three-night stay was most courteous, and thank all for a very nice experience!
