As a resident of the Twin Cities, I get pummeled by the Treasure Island (TI) advertisements daily - TV/radio/etc. Anyway, my fiancee' requested that we go somewhere for our anniversary - as I am in the middle of a big project, I couldn't take off for a long time, but I just wanted to get out of town and out of the city. After reviewing the online photos, I figured why not make a reservation for two nights in one of the whirlpools suites.
When we arrived, they could not fulfill the request for a river-view suite - even though I booked a month in advance, and there were no shows this weekend. So we got one facing the bluff - or more appropriately the parking lot. Right over the entrance to the hotel, we got to hear the car doors close and the valets raise the cars up the driveway. But don't worry, that sound was drained out every 15 minutes by a @#$## train going through blowing it's horn.
While the room were spacious and clean, but the linens were horrible. Every time you rolled over the non-fitted sheets came loose, and you were rapped up in them. It would be nice however to have some non-blackout shades though - blocking the view of people in the parking lot, but allowing some natural light in.....and if your going to stuff the bedroom area with furniture, a nightlight so you don't run into it would be useful. We had brought along a portable DVD player to watch movies and hang out, but they disabled the video inputs with their VOD system :(
Our goal wasn't a gambling weekend - it was a relaxing weekend in what we thought was a "resort". There is no spa, there are no extended services....this is NOT A RESORT, even if that's what the ads say. My recommendation for the hotel manager is to book a room for him and his wife for two days in a row. My guess is his wife will look at him at 3AM and ask, "Can we just pack our stuff up and drive home" just like my fiancee' did early this morning.
One positive note - hotel staff and restaurant help were great, but could not make a room change due to the hotel being full.
