Spent the afternoon here with grandkids. They were fascinated by the informational talk and could not stop talking about all the new facts about eagles they had learned. Also spent time on dock fishing with grandson (granddaughter did not want to try) for fish for the eagles. Have been in Wabasha many times, but never stopped at this center. Was very impressed with how they had organized the exhibits, etc. Well worth the visit.

For a small town, this center is impressive. The location of the center is beautiful. They did a nice job with the exhibits. We liked the nest exhibit. You walk into a nest to get an idea of the size. The resident eagles are impressive. The scheduled informational talk was well done. You get to watch an eagle have a snack as part of the session. She took time to answer all of the kids' questions. The staff around the center encouraged questions and participation. There are many photo opportunities with the eagles. If you are in the area, this center is worth a visit. If you love eagles, plan a trip to the area and take in all the other sites.

I always have a great time at the National Eagle Center- great staff, great raptors, and a great view of wild eagle hotspots. At key times of the year, there can be more eagles than you can count hanging out nearby, in the trees, or along the river. I counted 46 eagles in a location not far away, this past January. I always get great photos of eagles, often closeups right at the Eagle Center. In terms of the staff, they are very excited, and knowledgeable about eagles. The times I've been there, they have always been very helpful in terms of pointing out where the eagles hold their convocations (ie congregate). The presentations are always excellent, and quite lively. I can't wait until I get the chance to visit again.

We spent 1 hour and 45 minutes here which was a little long. There are exhibits (not just of eagles, but of tree bark, animal pelts, etc.) which are very interactive. The boys liked the "Do you have an eagle eye?" simulator. We walked into the area where the eagles were perched and we watched them and asked the handler questions for a few minutes. The highlight was the 45 minute live show which fills quickly (as I was advised on here). It is very child-friendly (volunteers requested) and creative ways to teach about eagles (i.e. using bean bag-type of weights representing weights of different smaller birds to add to a common bucket until it reaches an eagle's weight). We enjoyed watching the eagle eating a fish at the end of the presentation. I would say that the eagle is present for about the last 5-10 minutes of the 45 minute presentation (for eating purposes only). Parking in quaint downtown Wabasha was no problem (it's not even a block away) and adhering to the 2 hour limit wasn't a challenge either since we only spent 1 hr 45 minutes there. Nice view of the Mississippi from the center even though the day we visited it was overcast.
