“Great hidden gem in Two Harbors!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

We were looking for a quick place to grab lunch after our visit to Gooseberry Falls and read about Louise's on tripadvisor. We were a little skeptical heading in; the outside looked old and the entrance was through the pub next door. However, upon entering we found a quaint little restaurant with quilts and trinkets all over the walls. We were lucky it wasn't busy when we came because there is only about 10 tables in the place. Between the four of us we had the Swedish pancakes, an omelette that was almost as big as the plate, a ham sandwich and a bowl of chili. Everything was delicious! The omelette was cooked perfectly, the bread was thick and appeared to be homemade, and the chili was amazing. Everything is super cheap and you get way more food than you pay for. The lady working was very nice and chatted with us while we ate. To top it off there is a large display case of desserts staring you down while you order. Yum! If we happen to be in Two Harbors again we will definitely return.

“Great little place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Read about Louise's on Tripadvisor and decided to take a chance on it. My husband and I and our 2 kids walked in and were immediately greeted by the locals who were in there having coffee. It was a great friendly way to start breakfast. The breakfast itself was all homemade and really tasty. It isn't a big place by any means, but it is very homey and welcoming and someplace I would absolutely go back to.

“Very good, fresh food. We'll be back.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

We visited on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 1:45 pm. We arrived to Two Harbors on the North Shore Scenic railroad from Duluth. This restaurant is across the street from the depot and no need to take a shuttle bus.

We have never been to this town before and so we just looked around and headed out. At first we entered another place, The Pub, on the corner. That is a beer and shot place and the menu did not look appealing. So...out the rear of The Pub you enter a little hallway and across the hall is Louise's Place. We discovered this totally by accident.

Small, with nine tables, in a cozy setting of hand-made quilts along the walls. You stand in line and order at the cash register, the menu is above on a white board. You then pay and the cashier tells you that they will bring it out to you. ( I guess it's small enough that they remember your face for 10 minutes.)

I ordered the "Louise's Club" - turkey, ham, bacon, american cheese, lettuce and tomato on cranberry/wild rice (naturally in Minnesota) bread (no middle piece of bread like some clubs) then it is grilled on the flat top. Oh my! The grilling is an added twist that lifts an ordinary club sandwich to new heights. The cheese gets gooey and the cranberries in the bread get caramelize and sweet! It was so very, very good! The sandwich was a very generous portion. Also on the plate is a generous portion of potato chips and pickles. Price: $6.75.

My wife had a turkey, cheese and lettuce sandwich on white bread - $5.75 - very good and fresh. My sister had a chicken salad sandwich on the cranberry/wild rice bread (no grilling) - $5.75, also very good. We were all very pleased by this accidental find. If ever in Two Harbors again we will definitely be back!

“Very Good Breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

We were going to eat at Judy's Cafe, but it was full, there were 3 families in front of us and it looked like only 2 tables had their food. So we moved the next cafe I wanted to try. Louise's Place was it. It's a small cafe type that serves coffee, homebaked goodies and breakfast all day (also a lunch menu). I had the two egg omelet with homemade cranberry wild rice toast that was incredible! Our 2 daughters had French toast with your choice of bread, which they both enjoyed with bacon. Hubby had two very large carmel pecan rolls that he loved! Hubby had to finish my omelet and toast as it too much for me. Our two daughters also had to get two pieces of the pumpkins bars to go and they were really good also. The interior was very homey and comfortable. The service was top notch, they were so friendly and helpful. It was also very reasonably priced. It's not a very extensive menu, but we had no trouble finding what we wanted. One of the least expensive meals we had on the North Shore and one of the best.

“A steaming cup of joe, and a fresh goodie!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

This is a nice little coffee shop. It is clean, comfortable, and the ladies were very nice. They serve a breakfast menu all day and they have a case full of fresh baked goodies. I tryed a pecan brownie with a cup joe and it was quite moist, tasty, and no skimping on the pecans; kudos!
