“The magic of twin port and lake superior is best described here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

I came here recently for the Grandma's marathon. This was my first time in this part of the country. Some friends have told me about the beauty of twin port, but I could not understand it, until I got here. My experience wouldn't have been complete without being in this place. In order to understand the beauty and magic of this area you have to stay here. The nature, the lake view, the climate during June is amazing. Unfortunately, since I booked my stay so late, I had to stay in different places during the marathon weekend. If I had to do it again, I would stay here for the whole event. The logistic for the marathon may be a challenge since the finish line is in Duluth, but it is worth while.

Don't forget about the eggs benedict for breakfast! The best in town!

Room Tip: The closer you are to the lake the better.

My husband and I recently spent two nights here to celebrate our anniversary. Our cottage was an upstairs unit and was very very small, nothing in it but the bed and bathroom . It faced the street instead of the lake so there was some traffic noise . But the place itself was adorable ! The cottages were clean , kept up very nice and there are different styles to choose from . The restaurant was fabulous with a cute patio for outdoor eating and a campfire going every night . They give out complimentary s'mores and have a cute shop their as well . The lake is amazing and this place just takes you back in time to simplicity . Highly recommend it to families !

Room Tip: Don't get an upstairs unit facing the street .

Definitely one of the nicer properties on the North shore. the staff are very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. Wi-Fi is slow and no coverage the further away you are from the main lodge. the fire pits are a great place to meet people. The hot tub is fun.

Room Tip: the further away from the lodge the less foot traffic going by your yard.

This is the nicest resort I have ever stayed at. If you are headed north this place is breathtaking. From the rooms to the staff. They provide everything. They even light your campfire and provide s'mores.

From NY met got married out in MN where my bride lived and decided to stay fairly local to the twin cities for our honeymoon and never expected a lake to be so relaxing and beautiful. Larsmont is about 2.5 hours away north of the twin cities on lovely secluded property. We stayed in their 1 bedroom cottage with 1.5 bath, 1 king bedroom, full kitchen. full dining room, full living room, surround sound system and a awesome view to the lake. the cottage is fully loaded with pretty much everything you would find at your own home and more, I mean the kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite counter-tops and stocked with accessories to host a full fledged dinner, lunch and breakfast for 6 was ridiculous! There is an outdoor grill and patio exclusive to your cottage which is real nice when the weather is nice and you are a die hard griller like myself. We chose not to go out for dinner at their on site ledgerock grille which I am sure is a great restaurant but we preferred to go to the Super One Foods 10 minutes up the road and by and make whatever we wanted at a half the daily cost of eating out...i grilled two 20oz rib eyes for 16 dollars as opposed 80. Now that we are done with the food the cottage as a whole is very well kept and clean and atmosphere is very relaxing with the decor. Definitely use the telescope to see the large ships treaveling across the lake, kind of cool. Definitely bring movies to watch with the surround sound and games to play. Bring a tripod if you want to take pictures on the rocks by the water which is 20 feet away and very picturesque. the units are set up like a house that has been cut up into 4 depending on what kind of room you select. We went sightseeing at Goosebery falls which was really cool being able to walk right up to the falls, and we went to see Splitrock Lighthouse which is just a really beautiful lighthouse. finally the staff is fantastic and super nice and attentive to anything you may need. They do setup communal firepits which are scattered across the property but I dont really care to smell like smoke when there are no clothes wash machines on the premise, so bring enough if not extra clothes relative to your length of . Naturally being close to the water made it much cooler than being 100 yards off the resort so bring a windbreaker or something as it got about 10 degrees cooler at one in the span of few seconds even though it was june. My only real knock on the place is for the level of detail they give to amenities they really need to go on ebay and invest a few hundred dollars and expand the effective range of their wireless network, a week wireless signal hurt expand our chances at having more movie viewing options. LCD or plasma screens with a blueray would be the only thing i would add to the place. They also have an indoor pool, sauna, hot tub which are nice if you dont mind sharing with the public. Larsmont was a great experience and we plan on coming back down the line and maybe even purchase unit or timeshare, spend the extra cash for the 1 bedroom cottage it may be priceier but well worth the price when you can sleep and wake up to the sounds of the lake right out of an open window.

Room Tip: Be mindful of the temperature on the water. 1 bedroom cottages are the way to go if you are going to...

What an incredible place! Cottages are beautiful, modern and comfortable. Views of lake are amazing. Service is excellent-staff lights bonfires and provides complimentary s'mores supplies. Location is convenient to North Shore sights as well as Duluth. We can't wait to come back with our family.

My husband and I stayed in one of the suites in a cottage... balcony, fireplace, Jacuzzi tub... which was very cute and comfortable. We got a reasonable rate ($129/night) and were right on the lake. Unfortunately it was rainy and cold the whole time, so we didn't feel like walking to the main building for the outdoor hot tub (although it has a roof) or sauna. It seems that they have a lot of activities for kids and they're very willing to light one of the many outdoor fire pits (um, provided it's not pouring rain.) You can rent kayaks or bikes or hike nearby trails. Two Harbors is very close for a few groceries or restaurants. The restaurant on site has fantastic food, worth the highish price. The only down side was the late check in-- 4:30pm and checkout is 11am so we weren't actually there all that long.

Room Tip: If you stay on the lake, you can hear the waves, even without the windows open.
