Food was great, service very nice. You have to try their pie, it is awesome! A nice place to stop after hiking or biking.

“Great dinner, came back for lunch.”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

We stopped for dinner, just arriving 30 minutes before close. They didn't bat an eye. I had the special that night, Fresh Salmon on a bed of leaks in a bur blanc sauce - so delicious!!! Husband had a burger and sweet potato fries that were good. Because it was so late, they were out of several pies, and there were none that interested us. After going to Split Rock and Gooseberry the next day, we stopped back for lunch - mostly because we wanted pie! We did have about a 30 minute wait at 1 o'clock this day. I had the open faced roast beef sandwich and husband had the wild rice meatloaf. Both were delicious. And we had pie! We chose apple ala mode, and it was delicious!

“Tasty flavorful food and great pie!”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

Upon the suggestion of a co worker we stopped for a meal at Rustic Inn. It did not disappoint! I ordered the open face turkey bacon avocado sandwich with roasted baby red potatoes and my husband had the open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes and both dishes were just amazingly good and flavorful for a roadside cafe. The turkey was smokey and covered in melted cheese. The roast beef was equally well seasoned, and it was nice to have side options other than the typical fries or chips. Of course the pie (which we got to go because we were so full) was wonderful, had blueberry and summerberry (raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, blackberry combo). Service was a little slow but nothing worth complaining about or not tipping. Was able to browse the gift shop while waiting for food. Value... could be a little less expensive but it is good food and its not a chain, which is something I appreciate. That aside, this place is definitely worth a stop!

Be advised: The Rustic Inn is in Castle Danger, MN. NOT Two Harbors. Castle Danger is 11 miles up the North Shore from Two Harbors so if you go looking for it in Two Harbors and think you missed it, you didn't. Just keep driving!

“Food and Pie”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

The Rustic Inn never disappoints. I loved my meatloaf. The wild rice and Italian sausage used in it give in a unique, snappy taste. My wife had the roast beef dinner, which was moist, and flavorful. Of course a meal here would not be the same without pie. We had berry pie while there, and then brought home a slice of lemon crème and raspberry crème for a late night snack. Forget Betty's Pies, This is a must for anyone traveling in the area.

“Way better pie than Betty's Pie”
Reviewed July 7, 2014 via mobile

People say that Betty's Pie is the best. That might be true years ago, but Rustic Inn beats it hands down. My wife is gluten free and they even had some gluten free pies. Rustic also has great food too!
