We rented the honeymoon suite and the room was great! Large hot tub, gas fireplace, a king size bed with a ton of pillows, a living area seperate from the bed area and a breath takeing view of Lake Superior! The restaraunt was a bit pricey but still worth it. They have the BEST chicken wild rice soup I have ever had!! They have games to borrow and a video area all to use whenever you like. It was great and we WILL be going back!

Very clean rooms, staff is very accommodating, and they had some good promotions. We were very pleased with our stay.

Note: This survey is WAY too long! I am sorry I started, even though I wanted to give you this positive review. SHORTEN IT!

We have stayed at GSL at least twice a year going back 2001. We have hit most of the attractions from Grand Marais down to Duluth. We love at times to do nothing but relax and enjoy each others company.
We will be back!!!

The winter blahs encouraged me to get out of town and head to the North Shore for a few days. After deciding to revisit a favorite resort, Grand Superior Lodge in Two Harbors, my girlfriend and I were on our way. The resort stay was great as always…..relaxing, refreshing and fun. But, the surprise highlight of the weekend was the Wine Dinner that was happening at Splashing Rock Restaurant! When we booked the weekend we didn’t know that we’d be lucky enough to take part in a specialty culinary weekend. When we were checking in the Front Desk Staff told us there were still a few space open for the weekend event and we decided that we were in! After we checked into our room, opened the window to listen to the lake for a bit, we were straight down to the restaurant for the Friday Night Reception. There were unbelievable South American wines paired with a huge menu of South American foods. Delicious! Argentinean soup, steak, awesome empanadas and gorgonzola polenta….Yum! I’m not sure which was better the wine or the food.

The next day we had a light breakfast and wonderful pressed coffee (nice touch) and headed for massages and then a nap (it’s hard work relaxing ). Dinner started at 6:30, the theme was Around the World. First up were oysters and French Champagne, then to South Africa and a nice crisp Chenin Blanc paired with a Peach Carpaccio and Endive. Then back to South America with an Argentinean Pinot Grigio and prawns – Yum!! Pinot Noir from New Zealand with Lamb Medallions with a tasty celery root puree. A stop in the US with a Cab. Sauv. from Napa and some meat and potatoes (Beef Tenderloin & Fingerling Potatoes). We ended in Japan with Chocolate Sushi! Whew….thank goodness we had the room for it! The dinner was remarkable and the best impromptu event I’ve ever been to.

Checking out the next morning I realized that we had not walked out the door of the main lodge the entire weekend! We’ll have to come back in a few months to revisit and be sure to spend time outside! Grand Superior & Splashing Rock’s staff were great, especially the culinary and wait staff at the Wine Dinner. The resort was just as we remembered and has become our special getaway. Hopefully everyone has a chance to experience the North Shore in this way!

We went for the Resorts "Wine and Romance" weekend and our experience was out of this world. Our room was spaceous, including a fireplace and a hot tub with breath taking views of the Lake. The food was amazing and the head chef came out to chat with us. The resort is less then 5 minutes from Gooseberry Falls with fantastic hiking trails. I would come back to this place anytime.

We stayed here over the weekend and had a great time. The room was amazing. Awesome views of the lake, fireplace, hottub, nice furnishings and great kitchen. We cooked most of our meals. The fireplace is great on a winter night and the wood is complimentary. The hottub in the bedroom was great, and we were literally steps away from the lake shore.

We got a credit at the restaurant when we checked-in so we had breakfast both mornings there. The food was good and you get a lot.

This place is close to Gooseberry Falls State Park which is a fun place to go hike and explore. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I wanted a romantic getaway so we decided on this place. For dinner we went to the restaurant in the lodge and were seated with menus and water. During next 15 min. the waitress never came back. We left and ate at the Rustic Inn.(YUMMY) Then we decided to go swimming during the adult hours 10-11 and went to go and they were closed. Only to be told that those were the summer hours (even though the check in sheet we received said todays date) My husband complained and they said they just didn't change the hours yet. (DUH) Then we were going to sit by the fireplace on to go and find out that it wasn't even lit. And to top it off our room was so blasted hot with the heater turned off we had to sleep with the window open all night long. I would never go back here in a million years even if they offered us a free room. Good luck to those of you who decide to ever stay here but I would not reccommend it.
