My wife and I were married at Grand Superior Lodge on August 1, 2008 and had a wonderful experience. We had about 100 people and the staff was great both with the planning leading up to the event and the day of. We used the patio, ballroom and restaurant that Friday night and they also catered a barbeque at our family cabin nearby the next day. For both events, GSL staff was friendly, accommodating and everything went as planned and as promised. In particular we were very pleased with the food. Cooking for large groups can be challenging, but the quality of everything served was excellent. The chefs even prepared some special selections for us without any hesitation. Subsequently we have been back to have lunch and dinner and it is always good. Particularly helpful was the General Manager, Sai Bezawada. Sai is a big reason why we were so happy with GSL. A couple months before the wedding there was some personnel turnover in the event and catering areas (not uncommon in the hotel industry), Sai essentially took over as our point person two weeks prior to the event. He dealt with our numerous questions and requests with charm and professionalism. At one point, Sai was even vacuuming the floor in the ballroom; all the time a smile on his face. While something like this is certainly not his primary responsibility, it showed us the level of commitment he had to our event and to GSL. We stayed in a King Suite and the room was great. All our guests had a good experience as well. I highly recommend GLS for your event or just for a weekend stay. The grounds are beautiful and right on the lake.

We stayed at the Grand Superior Lodge in Two Harbors, MN for a little weekend away.

We were very impressed with the grounds of the hotel and the close proximity to the lake. We stayed in one of lower level rooms with a walkout access to the beach. It was so beautiful!

The room was very quaint, clean, and the jaccuzi tub was great.

We took one of the resort's canoes out one afternoon. It was nice they had those available. They also light camp fires every evening for guests.

If we head back that area, we will definitely book here again.

Do NOT believe their false advertisement of being a spa or even having spa services available. We booked a long weekend based on getting 90 minute hot rock messages 2 of 3 days. I made spa reservations at the time of booking (over the phone). Of course, they charge you for one night lodging immediately, so when we checked in and found out that the messages weren't "confirmed" we were a bit confused. We were told that they would get back to us with confirmation, but of course, they never did. We did not know until 30 minutes prior to our appointment that there would be no messages.

The worst part, THEY DIDN'T CARE ! How can this resort advertise spa services ?

We had every meal at in Splashing Rock. The meals were mediocre. Not great, not horrible. Comparable to Perkins. The morning wait staff was good, however, the evening staff was horrible. One gal was literally throwing the plates, bread, water glasses at us. It really was unbelievable.

Let me re-iterate. If you are looking for a grand experience, I recommend going back to Bluefin. We may try the new Surfside Spa next time, but we will never go back to Grand Superior.

I stayed here Oct 1-Oct 3, a mid week stay and found the service to be top notch as well as the cleanliness of this resort. Their beach is gravel but for the most part it's beautiful lava rock, very romantic at night to soak in the wonderful sunrises and sunsets. The resteraunt was alil pricey but wonderful. The bed was comfortable, almost too comfy, it was hard getting up in the morning. The room was clean and spacsious. Room service stops at 10pm. Nice lobby and internet in den off lobby. The view was amazing and for the price, a GREAT VALUE! Go mid week if you can, the area gets swamped with too may ppl. Two harbors is biggest city along enitre North Shore and their 20 mins south. Gooseberry falls state park is 5 mins north. A great location for a lodge! A must stay.

My husband and I chose this place because of it's location to many sites along the North Shore we wanted to see on our 25th Anniversary get away!! We choose well I must say :)
We loved it. Our room was the Honeymoon Suite which has a private balcony looking out at Lake Superior. Fantastic view.
Our room was nicely decorated, roomy and very clean. We enjoyed using the jacuzzi while looking out at the lake.
The restaurant onsite served great food. This is a wonderful place for everyone to stay and enjoy.

Just got back from our second trip this year. We loved it in the winter, so we decided to come back in the summer. Great food and service as always.
They had a list of activities and the best one was the charter fishing trip. The guide was great and we caught 6 fish and he even cleaned it for us. 3 hour trip for $30!! great deal. We loved the bonfire with smores and there was anturalist telling stories about the moose...what a neat experience.
Will be back and keep up the good activity program as its the perfect place for the soul.

We spent two nights in the King Suite in the lodge at Grand Superior. Overall, the property is situated with a beautiful view of Lake Superior and is right on the lake - you can hear the waves at night, which was fantastic. With our lake view room, we had a great balcony with almost full sun all day long. The King Suite was very nice, with lots of lake view windows, a great bed, fridge, microwave, and the in-room hot tub was fantastic (main lodge hot tub also huge). There is also a nice fireplace. We had breakfast included in our room rate and it was very good. The property itself is nicely appointed and well taken care of. Overall, we were pleased with our stay, but there are a few small things the management needs to do to truly make this a first class lodging and one that we'd really want to come back to. Just a few examples: the "exercise room" had only one treadmill and one weight machine, despite being advertised as having more offerings. We were only alloted one small bottle of shampoo, bath gel, and one small bar of soap for our two day stay - why so cheap with the bath amenities?? Only two glasses were provided in the room - for such a nice room, why not additional glasses and some wine glasses as well? Housekeeping was a low point - glasses were not replaced, coffee not refilled, bathroom not attended to. Front desk also needs some work - staff is pleasant, but not very well informed about amenities - great that guests have complimentary use of canoes, not so great that we were directed to the wrong place to get a canoe and then when we finally found them, no paddles. All in all, we'd recommend Grand Superior - it truly is a beautiful property with a great view, we just wish they'd pay a bit more attention to the small details that make a stay really one to remember.
