We just returned from a weekend at the Aurora Staples Inn and had a fantastic time as always. We have stayed at several different places in the area and now only stay at the Aurora Staples Inn. It truly is our "Home away from home".

The home is beautiful and exceptionally clean. The owners (Cathy & Jerry) are the nicest people you will ever meet and how much they love what they do is evident. The flower garden in the back yard is beautiful and is the perfect place for a summer wedding. Cathy & Jerry take a lot of pride in their yard and flowers and spend countless hours working on them.

Coffee, Tea, juice etc... is brought to your room in the morning if you like and you can sit in front of your fireplace or out on the porch and watch the birds, read or just relax. A three course breakfast is served and has been delicious every time. Cathy will tell you the history of the house during breakfast if you like also.

What I love most about the Aurora Staples is that it is a comfortable place to be. You are made to feel welcome and not like your are staying in a strangers house. The house is not full of clutter and the rooms are beautiful. Cathy and Jerry are there if you need them for anything, but at the same time, give you your privacy and space if wanted.

I would definately recommend the Aurora Staples for any occasion big or small. It is a wonderful place full of charm and great memories.

The Aurora Staples Inn in Stillwater has our hearts! With our most recent stay, we've finally stayed in all the rooms, and have truly enjoyed each and every stay. We always look forward to the light appetizers at check-in, the tradition of paging through local restaurant menus for a dinner location, and the luxury whirlpool tubs and fireplaces in each room. The rooms, as well as the whole house, are tastefully done without all the clutter found in many Bed & Breakfast locales. Starting the morning off with fresh muffins and coffee in our room, followed by a fantastic three-course breakfast in the dining room always makes the day wonderful. The owners are there as little or as much as we need them to be, never making us feel uncomfortable or leaving us without the things we need to make our stay special. Even though we've stayed in all five rooms, we will definitely return to the Aurora Staples Inn again soon!

The proprietor of this B&B was annoying. We know she didn't intend to be but still she bothered us. We went to Stillwater to get some much needed rest and explained that we would be sleeping in, skipping breakfast and just taking it easy in the peaceful area overlooking the St. Croix river. Even though she was told we would not be eating breakfast at the house she asked several times if we would be coming. Plus, she tried to invade our space several times just because she wanted to "refresh" our towels. She came knocking at the door even though the privacy sign was still out. I was not dressed coming just out of the shower. It was embarrassing. We were told we would have wireless internet access. If we couldn't pick it up in our separate Carriage house we could get it from the library next door. We had no access in our building. We were told we could come into the house at any time, use the parlors and the game room on the second floor. We were very quiet the 2 nights we actually did go into the house on the first floor after supper trying to get access from the library building. Still, she came down from the third floor apt. and wanted to know what we were doing. We left the evening before checkout and went to a hotel in Mpls. just to escape this nosy Rosy. We will not be back.

The Aurora Staples Inn has everything a good bed and breakfast should.
It's absolutely beautiful, with gorgeous wood work, floor and details throughout. The room was lovely, the whirlpool bath relaxing and the food terrific (the heart-shaped chocolate muffins were to-die-for, but alas a family secret recipe!). Innkeepers Cathy & Jerry were great -- they clearly love their line of work and make guests feel very welcome.
I appreciated that they were unabtrusive, allowing for the feel of a true getaway in a beautiful home, and also willing to talk about the area, the home, and themselves in a way that made us feel like welcomed friends. It's definitely a good choice if you are looking for a restful, romatic escape.
