It's easy to drive right by this one--but don't. It's fun, reasonable, and laid back.

This "institution" continues to serve great food in the same 19xx's eating area ( booths, counter, etc) but they took over the fishing bait shop area and now have 2 modern eating rooms ( about 4 tables in each room). The large windows provide a river view ( across the parking lot) and in the summer they have an outside eating area. The pancakes, omlettes, meatloaf and hamburgers are just some of the items to rave about. This was also the "diner / restaurant" in the movie "Beautiful Girls"

This should be on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. I am not sure which catagory it would fit in. Some people would say Dive I suppose, but it is bright, clean and neat.

The River Oasis has been there for years and is much loved by locals and those of us who have been around the Stillwater area for years. When I was younger we used to stop there for breakfast on the way to a day of fishing. For years there used to be a bait shop next door.

The owners and waitstaff are professional, considerate and do a great job. Everything we have ever eaten there breakfast, lunch or dinner has been wonderful. One of the great things about this place is you can get breakfast any time they are open.

Our favorites are one of the Haystacks!! Give this a try. Get their early, or there will be a wait. It is well worth it, but many people have a McDonalds mentality and they want their food now and are uncomfortable with the wait.

The interior has not changed in years, so if you are looking for a modern eatery, you will be disappointed. But if you are comfortable in a place that resembles where your parents and perhaps grandparents ate, it is worth the trip!!

We are going back this weekend!!

Step back into the days of the diner and sit on a swivel stool or find a comfortable table in the back room. It doesn't matter where you sit the food is going to be exceptional anywhere.
I am a fussy french toast eater but I admit this is the best french toast I've ever tasted in a restaurant. It's even better than my own.
My sister ordered a spicy burger with jalapenos & she always complains it isn't hot enough. She had to wait for her beverage to be re-filled before she could continue to eat it. She absolutely loved it and it looked like the burger was hand formed and delicious.
In an overpriced area this place was truly an Oasis of quality food at an affordable price. I would definitely eat here again and again and again.

From the outside it looks like a blue-collar greasy spoon for breakfasts - but don't be deceived! Dated and old fashioned it may be, but the breakfasts are superb - especially their signature Haystacks! Lunch and dinner menus are interesting too! Some surprises! Well worth stopping in - you wion't be disappointed!!! And every time you cross the St. Croix after being in WI, you'll make an excuse to stop and eat there!!! They have a lot of regulars who stop there - become one too!
