Cape Willoughby Lighthouse

Owner description: The first lighthouse erected in South Australia, the Cape Willoughby Lighthouse lights the Backstairs Passage between Kangaroo Island and the mainland.

After some very wet roads getting there, we found the Cameron very helpful and informative.
We know square light houses are easy to build, but the view from the round lighthouse at Cape Willoughby has excellent views.
Cameron has a vast knowledge of the history and related it well to all visitors.

Cape Willoughby Lighthouse is a nice place to visit, but the road out to the lighthouse is tough on your rental car. It had rained the two days before we got to Kangaroo Island, so the road was in bad shape. Too many potholes and puddles. I had to wash the car before I returned it for fear they may charge me extra or find a clause in the contract about not driving on dirt roads.

If the road doesn't bother you, the lighthouse and the scenery is beautiful.

Definitely worth the trip down to this end of the Island. Stunning location. The guided tour was very informative and despite the crazy winds (which was expected) the view from the top of the lighthouse was absolutely breath-taking. Thank you for a great tour!

Worth the trip for the interesting history available to see in the information building as well as the surrounds, view etc. Basic refreshments available. Clean amenities.
