“Over rated and not value for money.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2013

Have been going to Clairview for many years. The new broom has swept clean, by increasing the price to top of the range caravan park prices and offering nothing at this point in time in return. We paid, from memory, about $39 a night, received dust from trucks all day long as they filled an adjoining area, noise, no water at the site for drinking, same old toilets and showers although they were clean, no pool, only a beach close. The Witsunday's charged less money, and had a pool, shops close by, beach across the road and new ensuites, The difference was staggering.

Thank you for your feedback. As per the previous responses, the park is under new ownership and management, and improvements have started with the amenities refurbishment starting this week. We apologise for the dust, but the adjoining property is now an exciting part of our park with more waterfront sites and rooms planned – and with the recent rains, the grass is now growing.

In regards to the price, the cost for a powered site here all year round is $30 (1 person) or $35 (2 people) – including our beachfront sites. The cost for a powered site in the Whitsundays however ranges between $33 and $89. Whilst we are making improvements to the park, our vision is not to turn into a resort style park with swimming pools, day spas and jumping pillows. The beauty of the park here is the natural surroundings and escaping the city distractions, providing guests with quality time together enjoying the beach, fishing, and natural environment.

This is a great location being about midway between Rockhampton and Townsville ... A big stretch with few places to stay.
The accommodation is VERY basic... And probably more suitable for a guys fishing trip.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I am certainly looking forward to the promised upgrade in the facilities! It certainly needs it!!

Thanks for your feedback. The renovations and upgrades have just started. A new insulated roof is currently being installed in the beach front bar. The tired amenities block will get a facelift. New cabins are planned to start shortly and then renovations of the existing cabins. Photos of all works will be posted on our facebook page. We look forward to welcoming you back next time - and trust that you will enjoy the new look.

Thank you for your feedback. The park is recently under new ownership and management – and I am happy to say that a majority of the issues you raised are already on our Schedule of Works and Review processes. An upgrade to the tired amenities building will take place prior to Christmas – we trust though that you found the facilities to be clean.

In regards to the meal, we would have appreciated immediate feedback, as we received a lot of positive comments on that evening, including a Christmas Party function group. We are currently working with the staff to review and improve the service and presentation of our evening meals.

We hope that you return to visit our park in the future and see what improvements the new owners and managers are implementing so that visitors can enjoy their stay at this beautiful location.

Awsome scenery!! Shop has all you need. Cooking amenities are right there.. Shower was hot and great water pressure..there's a bar and a happy hour every Friday!! And Cable tv in the bar area, we preffered to sit outside and watch the moon go up over the water..
Rain water is there for drinking so we filled all our water bottles for the day..

We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the friendly owner and his staff. We enjoyed seeing the many sea turtles in the creeks. We enjoyed the lorikeets coming in for a feed every afternoon and eating out of our hands. We enjoyed the licenced bar and beer garden with views of the beach. We enjoyed the fishing, some of the best we have ever found. Would we go back? yes we will and will make a point of getting back there and will recommend it to all.

It was getting dark on out way to Mackay so we quickly googled this and decided to stay the night. It's a lovely place right by the water. The staff were friendly and funny and the little shop had everything u might need when camping. But the facilities were so yuck. I wouln't say dirty but soooo old, rusty and falling apart. Same for the camping kitchen. If you just need a place to stay for the night it would be ok, $35.00 for a powered site however is lot to consider staying any longer than that.

We stopped over for 1 night on our way home from Cooktown. Situated on the water which was nice. Staff very friendly & willing to help with a smile. Basic clean amenities, licensed bar with meals. Be sure to have some drinking water in your tanks as the park runs a very salty bore. However they do have a big drinking tank available for use. Camp fire area where everyone was sitting around telling there traveling yarns. All in all nice little stopover park.
