“Not your typical winery, but a nice place nonetheless”

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, four adults and one infant. Surprised at how big the place was. Really was expecting something more quaint and farm-like, but the building is gorgeous and I could see folks having events there. Everyone's taste for wine is subjective to me, but this place had a nice mix of what I would deem higher quality wine down to a very simple drinking wine. The Big Boy Blend was my favorite overall and think it will age well. We each did the wine tasting ($5 for 4 or 5 tastes). Don't normally pay for tastings in other places, but $5 is reasonable. Like the little description sheet they give with each and the server was so-so about describing each.

Probably the thing that made it better overall was the full kitchen. We enjoyed the brie appetizer and split a pizza, which were both delicious. When you are used to getting just cheese and crackers, this is a great addition.

As I said, the service was ok, nothing amazing but certainly not bad either. The owner came over at one point though and answered our questions, sharing a little more about the winery, which was very nice of her.

Overall it's a great place worth stopping at for an afternoon.

When we first arrived at the bar we were greeted but the person never followed through with getting us going with our tastings and possibly dinner. Several people asked if they could help us but no one did until one of the "four sisters" stepped up and got us going. She apologized for the confusion and seated up and brought us our wine tastings. It sure seemed chaotic. We were then greeted by the winemaker who again apologized and proceeded to tell us the history of the winery and suggested a place for our next stop. We liked a lot of their wines - ended up buying three bottles (one that wasn't ready to be drunk yet so my husband will have to wait awhile.) The place was very impressive and expensive - $85.00 for 3 bottles and 2 tastings........
We were interested in having dinner but they didn't have their dinner menu -- on a Sturday night???

We traveled about 2 hours to visit this winery and were severely disappointed. The building itself had such poor acoustics that we couldn't even converse with the people right at our table without shouting. Service was so-so (they were very busy that day), the wine tasting was expensive for the mere sips of wine we received...hardly enough to even taste the different kinds. The food was very expensive, and hot food was cold by the time it got to our table. Will not go back there again anytime soon.

We're so sorry to hear you were disappointed on your visit! There seems to be a love/hate relationship with the acoustics in our building. :) It keeps the atmosphere lively and fun, but we've heard that some of our customers have trouble with the sound. We're looking into putting acoustic panels throughout the tasting room and should have those installed soon.

As far as the wine tasting, our pours are each 1 oz and there are five wines on the tasting menu. The tasting equals a full glass of wine (5 oz) and costs the same as a glass of wine; a pretty standard method for wine tasting.

If you were unhappy, one of the owners is ALWAYS in the tasting room. We would love to speak with you right then! We do truly care how each of our guests is treated and what you thought of your experience. We hope you'll give us another try and let us wow you! :)

We held a rehersel dinner for my son's wedding here last weekend. We choose to have a buffet and the food was delicious, very fresh and upscale. Everyone remarked how good it was and what a great place to get together. We had about 35 people and all enjoyed the food and wine. . Yes it was in the room where the barrels and vats of wine are aging which just added to the atmosphere of the winery. We live outside Chicago and go to many fine restaurants both there and on our travels. The food here stands up to any of them. Yes the floor is cement and the room is not fancy but it was set up nicely with round tables covered in white tablecloths. Buffet included 3 pasta dishes plus lettuce to make wraps with pork, chicken and shrimp in wonderful sauces. The deserts were to die for.and of course the wine is wonderful!!! We had visited once before and enjoyed their brunch which was unique and great food to. Wonderful place to enjoy some wine with friends. Can't wait to go back.

Delicious, unique menu offerings that change just often enough to provide good variety to regulars! Friendly & knowledgeable wait-staff, very reasonably priced flights (tastings), open and modern atmosphere. The live music is great! They offer a number of special events, which I look forward to taking advantage of in the future.

This is not a 'cheap' place to eat, but then, they don't serve low-quality food or tiny portions. It is certainly a case of you get what you pay for :)
