“Great patio poor food”

Great place to go on a summer day or Monday burger night. But service is average and food is over priced for less than average meal. I wouldn't recommend much. Get a drink and share a conversation.

“Not worth the trouble”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

We went there as group for a work function and tryed to make a reservation and they didnt take them, they said the would seat us when we arrived, it was lunchtime - 1st issue...we arrived and there was no one to help us or make any attempt to seat us, when we were finally seated, they tried to break us up...guys this was a work group function, so we arranged the tables ourselves - 2nd issue, then the service, they were not prepared, we waited about 30 mintues to get someone to take our drink order and when they did we all decided to order our food with the drink order..the food took just as long to get, it was ok not great, there was about 20 of us and not one of us was satified and probably will not return.

Fun place to go to be by the water. Food is good but a bit on the spendy side. They do run some specials on the dock.

“Dinner might be great, lunch wasn't.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

Restaurant is local icon for many years. Wharf is open for lunch. First come.....so no place to sit with any shade, very hot day, ate inside bar. Others in group had burgers cooked on huge grill outside, get your own, serve yourself. I had Mahi Mahi taco, worst I've ever had. Fish in hard, overcooked chunks. Aioli very runny, tortilla soggy. OK, won't go back for lunch. People watching good, rich or wannabe rich Minnetonka locals sporting contrived hairdos, leathery tans, ec.

“Resting on Their Laurels”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2012

Lord Fletcher's is a high-end restaurant built right on the water. Boaters pull up to an extensive dock and step out for a table near the dock. As many or more people come by car, and the parking lot is crowded. Obviously this place is very, very popular in mid-summer. It is so popular, that they don't have to worry if they don't get everything right.
Our first clue that this is not a careful place was in making the reservation. They took our name, but didn't ask for a phone number. The second clue was when we showed up. Clearly, our name meant nothing to them, but we were seated without difficulty. The dining room was not all that busy, as nearly everyone was outside on the deck, which is much more informal.
The food was really pretty good. Lobster tails were partially out of the shell for ease of eating and cooked to perfection. The halibut special, a very large portion, was perhaps a tad overdone, but had good flavor. The tenderloin steak was cooked as ordered and perfectly acceptable. House salads were cold and crunchy, with a delicate cream sauce and lots of sunflower seeds for a nutty flavor. Prices are high. The 6 ounce filet was $33, the halibut $32, and two lobster tails of average size were $55. The bread basket was complimentary, which is becoming increasingly rare.
They have an eclectic wine selection with high prices and very few bottles in the $30 range.
Service was spotty, with a lot of division of labor, which can sometime be a good thing. However, some plates were cleared, but not all. Some silverware was cleared and not replaced. (With no serving staff in sight, I had to help myself from a nearby table.) This can all be attributed to their being extremely busy.
The noise level was high, primarily because a table of very loud talkers was located right behind to our booth. That's the luck of the draw, but also a result of close table placement.
The atmosphere can be summarized as tired. This place is obviously a cash cow, but they are not putting any of it into the main dining room. Everything seemed worn and not cared for.
In summary, this is a great place for the locals, but not worth a trip of any distance for non-locals.
Date of our visit: July 11, 2012, four in our party.
