“Wonderful hidden gem!”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Everything about the Baptism River Inn is wonderful! The rooms are all beautifully decorated. You can't go wrong with any of them. Breakfast is delicious! One of our days was rainy so we really appreciated the lovely living room with wood burning fireplace. The location is perfect for those hiking the Superior Hiking Trail. There are several spectacular hikes within a half hour's drive. Be sure to ask the proprietors for suggestions. This place is perfect!

Room Tip: Every room is great!

I enjoyed my stay at the Baptism river Inn. Upon arriving I was greeted by the owner, very personable. The room was very cozy and well decorated while not being cluttered with nick nacks. Located in the beautiful wilderness of the north woods, the Baptism river was a short three min trek from the cabin, very scenic. Breakfast was well made and delicious. I will very likely stay here again due to the good service, beautiful locale and reasonable price.

We celebrated our 1 year anniversary at the Baptism River Inn- and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Everything about the bed and breakfast- the rooms, the food, the service, the LOCATION- exceeded our expectations! Andy and Lura were so welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and visits each morning. The sounds of the river outside our room lulled us to sleep each night and the whole experience was exactly what we were looking for. We will most definitely be planning another trip to the Baptism River Inn in the future and would recommend it to anyone!

From beginning to end a first class but down to earth experience. Excellent facilities and food. A beautiful location and helpful, friendly, sound advise for what to do from the proprietors. We will definitley like to go back.

My husband and I have been coming here for years. It's the only place to stay on the North Shore. The cabin is beautiful. We have stayed in all of the rooms. No matter which room you choose they are all nicley decorated, very clean, quiet and the beds are comfy. The atmosphere of the Inn is a refreshing departure from the typical victorian decor of many other B&B's. The breakfast is great, something new every day. When we visit Andy & Lura we usually go hiking. There are many waterfalls to see along the North Shore. It's centrally located for all North Shore destinations. Grand Marais is a short trip and is always fun to stroll around. Sven and Olie's pizza is our favorite.
You will be back!

I will start with the negative. This place is so great we tend to not want to leave to hike and bike and kayak and ski which are the reasons we go north. There is an amazing atmosphere here and the bottomless cookie jar doesn't hurt. Words can't describe the sublime breakfasts and sometimes we stay an extra day or two so I can get a repeat of the orange cream cheese stuffed French toast. I can't imagine a better breakfast. I am so glad I stumbled upon this place a few years ago. We will return, often.

Room Tip: Like them all but the evergreen suite is our favorite.

Great lodging, quiet and blessedly full-dark nights, pleasant atmosphere and hospitality.
Best mid-northshore site for leaf tours in October;
ideal location for ski access to Flathorn-Gegoka NF ski areas in winter.
Excellent Superior Hiking Trail access to some of the best parts of the trail -- Manitou and horseshoe ridge area, Caribou River and points north. Both challenging and also easy-walking parts of the SH trail within a short commute.
