If you are seeking a quiet, northern Minnesota woods true getaway The Baptism River Inn Bed & Breakfast is the place to go. The rooms are cozy but not cramped, and the thick log cabin walls keep the place nice and quiet even with the Baptism River mere yards away. If you do want to explore the area Tette Gouche State Park is 3 miles down the road along the Lake Superior shore, and there is a beautiful lookout at Palisade Head down Highway 61 near Silver Bay, for starters, but there are many other options within short driving distances. We were seeking a place where we could just hang out by a fire in a fireplace, chat, and enjoy the nice breakfasts with the hosts. It was a true weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are enjoyable. Our preference was one of the smaller (non-suite) rooms because we e...

My wife and I stayed in the Evengreen Suite at Baptism River Inn Bed and Breakfast recently. We had a great time! The food was delicious. The suite was immaculate. The environment was relaxing and peaceful. We would definitely recommend this B&B to others--especially the suite. Thank you Lura for being a great host and opening your home up to us.

Room Tip: Evergreen Suite is the way to go! Trust me!

This bed and breakfast is fantastic. The rooms are beautiful, the location is perfect, and the hosts are friendly and accomodating. We couldn't have been happier. It is worth the trip to drive to their other property (National Forest Lodge) to take advantage of the ski and snowshoe trails.

My wife and I were in need of a weekend of peace and quiet away from our three kids. We got exactly that and so much more when we chose to stay at the Baptism River Inn Bed and Breakfast.

This place is just perfect. The bed was very comfortable and inviting, and afforded us a great night's sleep. The breakfasts were fantastic each morning. The owner, Lura, made a special adjustment for our dietary concerns.

The first morning she served a scrumptious peach cream-stuffed french toast and sausage for breakfast. We spent the day lounging and relaxing. We enjoyed just hanging out in the lodge by the wood-burning fireplace, reading, reflecting and enjoying the fresh coffee and cookies. For breakfast the second day we had flavorful scrambled eggs with salmon as well as fresh fruit and asparagus. We had some great conversations with the other guests during breakfast as well. Later we borrowed the free show shoes and went snow shoeing up the Baptism river, which is just a short walk from the Inn. The winter scenery was beautiful, at once both tranquil and majestic. We even saw a bald eagle soar across the river as we hiked along. Our third day we had a delectable bread pudding with apples and caramel sauce for breakfast with bacon and fruit. We enjoyed some time spent talking with Lura before we packed up to head back home. Our stay here was just fabulous. We couldn't have asked for more.

This was our first visit, but will not be our last.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the spacious Sunset Room, with it's own balcony.

We made our second weekend trip up to the Baptism River Inn last weekend and brought our friends along to share our enjoyment. You can just feel the stress melt away as you drive up the North Shore from Two Harbors and pull into the driveway of the Inn. The large log cabin house is comfy and tastefully decorated. Our bedroom was so cozy, we wanted to stay and read, except that we also wanted to go skiing. From our window, we could see the sun rising. We had great skiing on the trails at the National Forest Lodge, which Andy and Lura also own. We were thrilled with the powder snow, and the varied forests we skied through. We had a nice hot cup of coffee in the dining hall afterwards and ate our lunch. My husband and I had missed the sauna at the Baptism River Inn on our first trip and were determined to try it out this trip. We were not disappointed. Don't miss it! You'll feel rejuvenated afterwards! Lura's breakfasts and friendship are wonderful. I always bring a book along to read, but find myself more interested in the reading material at the Inn. Two days is a MUST at Baptism River Inn; we hated to leave.

A wonderful retreat in the northwoods. Great location away from the hustle and bustle. The gourmet breakfasts are fabulous. Lura was a gracious and wonderful host with great suggestions of where to X-country ski.

This was our first time at the B&B but it will not be our last. Lura made us feel like we have been friends forever and the breakfasts she made were absolutely fantastic. Such a beautiful, peaceful place to stay.
