We made our second weekend trip up to the Baptism River Inn last weekend and brought our friends along to share our enjoyment. You can just feel the stress melt away as you drive up the North Shore from Two Harbors and pull into the driveway of the Inn. The large log cabin house is comfy and tastefully decorated. Our bedroom was so cozy, we wanted to stay and read, except that we also wanted to go skiing. From our window, we could see the sun rising. We had great skiing on the trails at the National Forest Lodge, which Andy and Lura also own. We were thrilled with the powder snow, and the varied forests we skied through. We had a nice hot cup of coffee in the dining hall afterwards and ate our lunch. My husband and I had missed the sauna at the Baptism River Inn on our first trip and were determined to try it out this trip. We were not disappointed. Don't miss it! You'll feel rejuvenated afterwards! Lura's breakfasts and friendship are wonderful. I always bring a book along to read, but find myself more interested in the reading material at the Inn. Two days is a MUST at Baptism River Inn; we hated to leave.

A wonderful retreat in the northwoods. Great location away from the hustle and bustle. The gourmet breakfasts are fabulous. Lura was a gracious and wonderful host with great suggestions of where to X-country ski.

This was our first time at the B&B but it will not be our last. Lura made us feel like we have been friends forever and the breakfasts she made were absolutely fantastic. Such a beautiful, peaceful place to stay.

Room Tip: Was able to see all the rooms and would stay in any of them. There is a suite that is very, very nic...

I visited here for two nights with my girlfriend while back in MN to visit family. This was a very nice stay. The house was definitely unique. And for the comparable price to other generic hotels in the area, it was a very good deal! I loved the authentic northwoods feel to the house. We enjoyed sitting in the common room by the fire each night. The Finnish sauna was an extra treat - it was very fun to wake up early and start a fire in the wood stove to heat up the cute little building. The food served for breakfast was delicious (salmon scrambled eggs, stuffed french toast and sausage, good coffee, etc.) and our host Lura was very friendly and genuine. I wish we had more time to stay at the B&B. We walked down to the Baptism River on the morning of our departure to discover what a cool spot the river is! Too bad it was in the low 30's for weather, I would have loved to jump off of the rocks into the deeper bend of the river and run back up to the sauna!

Room Tip: River Room balcony faces the river/sauna and not the driveway(s)

We spent part of our honeymoon at the Baptism River Inn B&B and absolutely loved it! The Inn is very modern and has all the comforts on home and yet it is so peaceful and relaxing! The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and 2 person whirlpool tub. We were able to watch deer off our balcony and listen to the river. We had a delicious breakfast delivered to our room every morning...it was wonderful! We would highly recommend this B&B and hope to return in the future!

This was our first but will not be the last. Fantastic in every way.
Lura's breakfasts were amazing. She made us feel more like family than strangers. The secluded location made for a very peaceful stay. The North Shore has always been one of my favorite vacation spots and now that we know about this place we will be visiting more often. We are recommending Baptism River Inn to all of our friends.

Room Tip: The rooms are all good.

This was a first time experience for my friend staying in a B&B and he was not disappointed. I have stayed in many B&Bs and this one was among the best. The surroundings were beautiful, very quiet and secluded. We were warmly welcomed by our hostess, Lura, when we arrived. Since we were the only guests for the night, she gave us a tour of all the rooms. We could have changed our minds, but decided to stay with our first choice, The River Room. It was cheerful, cozy, and very comfortable. Lura gave us some suggestions as to where we could go for dinner, and afterwards, we came back and built a fire in the fireplace in the commons room. Afterwards, we took a nice jacuzzi and retired for the evening. In the morning, we were treated to a wonderful breakfast consisting of Lura's signature scrambled eggs with salmon, asparagus spears. scones, juice, and coffee. We were only there for one evening, but it was very enjoyable. We will no doubt return, perhaps when the weather is warmer or the colors are at their peak.
