“A home away from home during the funeral of my mother”
Reviewed November 23, 2011

My mother recently passed away. There are seven siblings in my family, 26 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. My dad died last year, so we had no place large enough to gather and be together as family. My family is the family that Marschall Road was named after; the road that the hotel is located. Haren Shroff, owner and general manager, and Nick Galgan, Director of Sales, did everything possible to make our stay during this time of grieving very accommodating and problem free. We used 5 rooms for 3 days. They allowed other family members to come and use the dining room, swimming area, and games on the Saturday following the funeral. We are so much appreciative and would recommend this hotel to everyone. Also, staff members Cheryl and Tim were very helpful.

we booked a stay at this hotel thru priceline, naming our own price, which still ended up being rather expensive, we thought, but figured it was because it was in the cities. (Guess we should have read our priceline print out a little better). We checked into the hotel about 7:30p.m, got to our room, it was beautiful--king size bed, couch, big room---but it smelled so badly of cigarette smoke...there was no way we would sleep in there...it had 3 ashtrays in the room-we looked on the outside of the hallway door and it had the no smoking emblem beside the door, but the big no smoking emblem had been removed from the door. My husband went down to see if we could move to a non smoking room. The clerk said that priceline had booked us into a smoking room, and if we wanted to move, we would have to pay an additional $10, to go to a 2 queen non smoking room. We did pay the add'l money, but the more we thought about it, the more upset we got---he told us that it was an upgrade was why we had to pay more...there is a sign when you walk into the hotel that says it is a 100% smoke free hotel.....hmmm. The next morning we asked the new guy behind the counter and he said he didn't know what happened , but would check with the guy we had dealt with the night before...anyway, as we went to check out, both of those guys were there, plus the owner and his wife...they told us that, even tho it says its 100% smoke free, they can have some smoking rooms??? Anyway, after a little discussion and everyone with the hotel saying we should have called them after making the reservation(thats what priceline says, which we didn't read) , the owner refunded the $10 and thanked us for staying....I guess it was our fault, mostly, as we didn't read our priceline form ( I just have never had this happen before with them, booking us into a smoking room). I guess, a lesson learned.....
Anyway, second room was nice, pool was nice, altho we had to ask for towels, and they're the size of a handkerchief, so you need several to dry off....
Breakfast had a good variety...they had a free arcade for kids, altho most games don't work-they still enjoy it. Like I said, all in all, it was a nice hotel

Fabulous customer service!!! (EXCEPTIONAL IN COMPARISON TO OTHER HOTELS.)
Efficient checkin with no waiting.
A wonderful hot breakfast that was well stocked and very tasty.
Clean rooms with comfortable beds and refrigerator and microwave.
Arcade games for kids and a air hockey table (all were free to use)
Pool and hot tub.
Discounts on Valley Fair tickets.
Bottled water available for only $1 at the front desk.
A small gift upon checkout.
Staff made us feel well taken care of and very comfortable.
This was our first time staying at this hotel but we will CERTAINLY be back. If you don't stay here you are making a mistake. We stayed in 4 different hotels on our week long vacation and this was by far the VERY BEST!

We just returned from a family outing to Valley Fair and the Shakopee area, when looking for a place to stay before our trip I looked through all the reviews on hotels in the shakopee area and time after time found nothing but good reviews about this location, with that in mind I made reservations for 2 nights and quite honestly I am so glad that I did....the staff at the hotel was not only professional but very courteous and kind when answering questions, the breakfast selection was great and the cleanliness of the hotel was very good...even though there were many families with young children staying there, the hotel was very quiet at night and we were able to get a very good nights sleep...and yes, being able to buy discounted valley fair tickets at the hotel was great. So thank you staff of Best Western for making this a very stressfree and enjoyable stay...,,
