“A great day of family fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Yes, the admission price is high, but it is in line with other amusement parks. Parking, entering, leaving and re-entering the park was easy despite the airport-like security check points. The lines went quickly and they had plenty of staff working the entrance to keep things moving along. The lines for rides moved along quickly, too - even the water rides! Half of our family opted for the "Fast Break" passes allowing them to cut lines legitimately, and the other half went with the standard admission. Often the lines were short enough that the fast break wasn't a huge time saver (but I think they found it kind of fun to play VIP for the day). The pricing online is a little confusing for this, as we thought the "Fast break" price (being higher than general admission) WAS the admission, but you still have to buy a regular admission AND the fast break ticket. Food and beverage prices are insane, but leaving and re-entering after dining offsite is the way to go. We had a wide range of ages with us, and everyone found areas of the park they thoroughly enjoyed! We would go again - it was a lot of fun!

We did NOT opt for the dinosaurs alive exhibit. That seems to be everywhere anymore. The Minnesota Zoo also has a dinosaurs alive exhibit for additional admission fees, too. These animatronics aren't worth it. Plus, at Valley Fair they have a few scattered throughout the park that you can see for free.

“We Love This Amusement Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Love, love, love this place. We spent 13 hours there on Friday and had a ball. Staff is very accomodating and focused on customer service. Lifeguards in the waterpark are professional and obviously well trained. My only advise is bring as much of your own food and beverages as you can. You have to go out to your vehicle to eat or drink but well worth it. The prices are steep and the food is not so good. The security check is ridiculous. Each time I went out they ran a metal detector over me? Seriously?

“had an almost perfect day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

the rides are exciting and at different thrill levels so there is something for most everyone. i thought rides and park was pretty clean. agree about the bathrooms needing more frequent cleanings. the ride operators were all pretty friendly and looked like they were having fun. the games are pretty good and the workers are clean cut which makes them more inviting than at the local carnival. i thought security check on july 4th was okay...i thought went pretty fast and everyone was getting wanded even the kids, but they only checked my backpack!?? i agree about food...way expensive....we brought our own to eat in the care and bought a little candy on the way out..VF offers coupons all over town to cut the cost...i paid $25 a piece. water park was fun, but really crowded. included in the price, but they charge for everything else like lockers and tubes. lounge chairs are a premium unless you get there early...most people camp on them ALL day! parking is expensive and yes, the lot is a little beat up. we also caught a little bit of the live entertainment...kind of cheesy, but fun. and the fireworks at 10:00 were awesome.

“What happened to Valley Fair?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

I remembered going to Valley Fair as a kid with my family then through my 20's with extended family and having a blast. I was so disappointed to see that outside picnic area gone so they could put in this dinosaur exhibit that cost more to go see. Really I just dropped a small fortune to get in the door! Where are the old time cars??? Could you clean a bathroom on the inside of the park? The one just before you enter the park was kept clean. The bag check? Who are you looking for? Certain men or was it the international guests?? The prices for food where so high even my kids had sticker shock! One staff person at a food place said to us... Thanks for coming to Valley Fair blah, blah, blah, can't wait for it to be closing time. Sorry honey...it was only lunch time. You got a long day ahead of yourself with that attitude. Thankfully she was not the norm. Many of the staff where friendly. The fee for parking doesn't seem to go back to maintaining their lot. What a mess. Biggest disappointment for us was the picnic area being removed. Was always a great place to rest for a bit in some shade. Best part of the day family time and having my kids rides they never thought they would.

“Great for kids, avoid the food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

We took our 9 year old to Valleyfair on thr 4th. They had increased security for the day and it was poorly organized. This is one of the busiest days of the year and they checked all bags and used metal detecting wands. First off, the line for this was ridiculous. There were not nearly enough people checking. Second, they were only checking men with the wands, which my husband was understandably upset about. Furthermore, you had to go back through the crazy line anytime you went to your car. The rides are great for kids and young teens. If you're looking for six flags style intense rides, this is not the place for you. Our nine year old had a blast though. The lines weren't too bad, even on such a busy day. Avoid getting food here if you can. It is over-priced even by theme park standards, you also hardly get any food. We paid $6 for 3 chicken fingers, it was an extra 3.50 for fries. When we got our cheeseburger and chicken fingers we had just paid $25 for, it was cold. If I pay that much for food, it could at least be warm.
